Ai Ogura Withdraws from 2025 Indonesian MotoGP Due to Injury

Ai Ogura, the Trackhouse rookie rider, will not participate in the upcoming 2025 Indonesian MotoGP after sustaining a wrist injury at last month’s San Marino Grand Prix. Following his withdrawal from the Japanese Grand Prix held last Sunday, Ogura’s ongoing wrist pain prevents him from safely competing at Mandalika this weekend, impacting the team’s lineup for the event.

Ogura’s Injury and Previous Race Performance

Ogura has been experiencing continuous discomfort in his right wrist stemming from a crash during the San Marino Grand Prix. He missed the subsequent post-race test but made a return to compete at Motegi, where he qualified 13th and managed to finish 9th in the Sprint race. However, he was forced to pull out of the main grand prix event due to his injury.

Trackhouse Team’s Statement and Next Steps

A statement from Trackhouse confirmed the decision to keep Ogura out of the Indonesian MotoGP for safety reasons:

“Despite an assessment and treatment in Japan since [Motegi], his condition means that it has been decided he cannot ride his Trackhouse RS-GP25 safely at Mandalika,”

the team explained.

Ogura will still attend the unveiling of the Trackhouse RS-GP25 bikes featuring a new Gulf design, a fan-chosen livery for the Indonesian and Malaysian rounds. This event is scheduled for Thursday afternoon at the Mandalika circuit, after which Ogura will return to Japan to continue his rehabilitation.

“After having to miss the Grand Prix in Motegi, this is a bitter blow for Ai and the team wishes him a speedy recovery and looks forward to having him back for the Grand Prix of Australia, at Phillip Island, October 17-19.”

Impact on the Trackhouse Team and Upcoming Races

With Ogura sidelined, Raul Fernandez will be the sole Trackhouse rider to compete in the Indonesian MotoGP round. The team remains hopeful for Ogura’s recovery and aims to have him fully fit for the Australian Grand Prix at Phillip Island later in October.
