Hendrick Motorsports Overhauls Alex Bowman Pit Crew Ahead of Bristol Playoffs

Hendrick Motorsports has made significant adjustments to Alex Bowman’s pit crew as they prepare for Saturday night’s playoff event at Bristol Motor Speedway. These Alex Bowman pit crew changes come at a crucial time, with Bowman currently trailing the playoff cutline by 35 points, behind Austin Cindric.

New Crew Members Joining the Team

The updated pit crew lineup for Bowman includes front tire changer Daniel Bach, rear tire changer Rod Cox, tire carrier Jarius Morehead, and jackman Cody French. Each of these crew members has been part of Carson Hocevar’s crew during the current season, as Hendrick Motorsports provides pit crews to Spire Motorsports. The only returning member from Bowman’s previous crew is fueler Jacob Conley.

Recent Pit Stop Challenges Leading to Changes

Bowman’s pit crew faced notable difficulties in recent playoff races that contributed to the decision to alter the lineup. At the playoff opener in Darlington, an air hose became disconnected during a pit stop, causing a 40-second delay after the crew struggled to diagnose the problem. Bowman fell two laps behind but managed to regain position, finishing 31st, two laps down.

The issues continued at World Wide Technology Raceway, where Bowman was competing in the top 10 before experiencing a slow 23.9-second pit stop on Lap 135. A second jack was necessary because a rear tire was not fully secured the first time it was raised. This contributed to a disappointing 26th-place finish.

Looking Ahead to Bristol and Broadcast Details

The upcoming race at Bristol is being viewed as an important opportunity for Bowman and Hendrick Motorsports to improve performance and secure a better playoff standing. The Cup race will be televised on USA Network, with pre-race coverage starting at 7 p.m. Eastern Time on Saturday.
