Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd. has announced that Augusto Fernández will continue as their official MotoGP test rider for the 2026 and 2027 seasons. The 2022 Moto2 World Champion, who transitioned from a full-time MotoGP competitor, remains a crucial part of Yamaha’s development efforts as the manufacturer prepares for major advancements in their MotoGP lineup.

Since joining Yamaha’s factory testing program in 2025, Fernández has contributed significantly to the brand’s technical progress. With Yamaha planning to introduce a new V4 prototype and an 850cc machine in 2027, his role is more important than ever as he helps shape the future of their racing machines.

Yamaha’s Strategic Investment in Fernández as a Key Development Rider
