Bezzecchi Stages Epic Comeback to Win MotoGP Sprint

Marco Bezzecchi of Aprilia secured an impressive MotoGP sprint win at Mandalika, rebounding from a difficult start to take the lead late in the race. Despite beginning from pole position, Bezzecchi fell back to eighth place early on, only to fight his way back amid intense competition during the Indonesian Grand Prix sprint.

Early Race Challenges and Key Incidents

Though Bezzecchi was the standout rider all weekend, he struggled off the line and slipped behind Fermin Aldeguer, who led initially, followed by Pedro Acosta and Raul Fernandez. By lap five, Acosta, holding second place, crashed into the gravel, which opened the door for Bezzecchi to begin his recovery effort.

Bezzecchi had to battle Luca Marini of Honda to move into fourth, finally passing Marini around the same time Acosta went off track. Now in third, Bezzecchi accelerated his pace with consecutive fastest laps, rapidly closing the gap to Fernandez in second place.

Closing Laps Showdown and Final Overtake

By lap eight, Bezzecchi overtook Fernandez, leaving just five laps to chase down Aldeguer, who was over two seconds ahead. Demonstrating calm determination, Bezzecchi caught Aldeguer and made a decisive pass at Turn 10 on the final lap. Aldeguer tried to counterattack in the next corner but Bezzecchi maintained the lead through to the finish line.

Other Riders’ Performances and Notable Finishes

Raul Fernandez completed the podium with a strong ride, ahead of Alex Marquez on his Gresini Ducati and factory Honda riders Joan Mir and Luca Marini. Meanwhile, Marc Marquez, the reigning world champion, faced challenges but fought back to seventh place after close battles with the VR46 Ducati duo of Franco Morbidelli and Fabio Di Giannantonio.

Francesco Bagnaia struggled once again, finishing last among the riders who completed the race, nearly 30 seconds behind Bezzecchi’s winning time.
