At the Indonesian Grand Prix held at the challenging Mandalika circuit, KTM rider Brad Binder delivered a remarkable performance, climbing from a 15th place start to finish fourth. This effort marks his best result of the season and could signal a turning point in his campaign, offering renewed optimism amidst a difficult year.
Binder, who has previously celebrated two significant wins in the premier class, showed resilience and skill throughout the intense 27-lap race. After a tough start to the season, his encouraging finish in Indonesia stemmed from important adjustments made during the warm-up session that boosted his confidence on the bike.
Key Adjustments Fuel Improved Race Pace
During warm-up, Binder and his team implemented substantial changes that positively affected his bike’s handling, especially at the front end. He explained,
“We made quite a big change in warm-up, and straight away I felt a lot more confident in the front-end,”
highlighting how the tweak helped him push harder in the race. He added,
“It felt like I was turning a little bit better and the front felt a bit more planted, so it gave me good confidence in the race to go and push.”
This boost in front-end stability was crucial for Binder to move aggressively through the field, showcasing the talent and persistence he is known for among fans and commentators alike.
Binder’s Determination Shines Through the Field
Binder expressed satisfaction with overcoming the pack and improving his starting position, a positive sign after several challenging outings.
“Happy to have been able to come through the field, and most importantly better my starting position by a long way. First time in a while I’ve been able to go forward,”
he said, underscoring his commitment to climbing the leaderboard.
Despite the exciting result, Binder remains realistic about the unique hurdles posed by the Mandalika track. Known for its low grip and unusual tire behavior, the circuit demands extra caution. He warned, “It’s a very special place,” and added,

“Super low grip levels, funny tyres. Let’s see when we get back to Europe,”
signaling a steady approach as the season heads to different venues.
Upcoming Challenges at Phillip Island Highlighted
As the championship moves forward, Binder is preparing for the contrasting conditions of the Phillip Island circuit. He observed,
“The track there is super-fast, super flowing,”
demonstrating his awareness of how varied terrain will affect performance. The return of the standard rear tire casing at Phillip Island is expected to improve traction.
“We’ve got the normal casing back on the rear, so that always makes the grip a lot better,”
he noted.
Outlook for Binder and the Season Ahead
Brad Binder’s fourth-place finish at Mandalika has reignited hopes among supporters that he can reverse the course of his season. Encouraged by the progress made and the lessons from Indonesia, Binder approaches the remaining races with determination and renewed vigor. With key competitors like Marc Marquez recovering from injury and Jack Miller confronting setbacks, Binder’s resurgence adds an intriguing dynamic to the championship battle.
As Binder continues to adapt to the varying challenges of each circuit, his performance in Indonesia stands as a promising sign that he remains a formidable contender in the fight for top positions this season.
