Brad Keselowski Aims to Build a Legacy Beyond NASCAR Champion Through Giving Back and Impacting Lives

Brad Keselowski, co-owner of Roush Fenway Keselowski Racing and a prominent figure in the NASCAR Cup Series, is focused on building a legacy beyond just his achievements on the race track. By actively working to help individuals in need and establishing long-term initiatives, Keselowski is dedicated to creating a positive impact that extends far beyond his career as a NASCAR champion.

Recently appearing on the podcast Chasing Checkers with Chase McCabe, Keselowski discussed his goals for both himself and his teammates Chris Buescher and Ryan Preece, emphasizing their desire to excel throughout the current season and strengthen their organization’s presence in the NASCAR playoffs.

Driving Success as a Unified Team

Keselowski expressed his aspiration for collective success within his racing team, aiming to place all three cars in the playoff rounds and compete strongly down the stretch. This ambition reflects his intention to elevate Roush Fenway Keselowski Racing to a tier-one competition status in the NASCAR Cup Series.

I want to see all of us be successful,

Keselowski shared.

I want to put all three cars in the playoffs and want to contend down the stretch as a tier one organization does.

Personal Influences Inspiring a Culture of Giving

Keselowski credits influential figures such as Dale Earnhardt Jr., Rick Hendrick, Roger Penske, and Jack Roush for shaping not only his racing career but also his personal values. Motivated by their support, he is driven to extend similar help to others, both within motorsports and beyond.

I think altruism is important in my life, regardless of whether it’s in motorsports or somewhere else,

Keselowski said.

I have my Checkered Flag Foundation that’s really important to give back more than what you’ve received, and I’m trying to do that.

The Checkered Flag Foundation and Support for Military and First Responders

Although Keselowski has not served in the military, he holds deep respect for service members and first responders, viewing it as his personal mission to support them during difficult times. Since its establishment in 2010, his Checkered Flag Foundation has raised close to $4 million to aid more than 250 individuals and families experiencing hardship.

Keselowski’s foundation not only assists military personnel and emergency responders but also steps in when urgent needs arise in various communities. For example, when Hurricane Helene struck Western Carolina last September, Keselowski and his team provided thousands of pounds of food, water, and relief supplies to affected residents.

A Personal Commitment to Paying It Forward

With a strong sense of gratitude for the opportunities he has been given, Keselowski remains steadfast in his efforts to give back and help others build better futures. He considers this dedication to be a rewarding part of his life that enriches both himself and those he supports.

I love that part of my life. It’s incredibly rewarding. I think gratitude is important as a person to have, and it’s fun to see that work its way into other people’s careers and see them be successful. So I’m committed to that in all aspects of my life.

Balancing Competition with Meaningful Community Engagement

This weekend’s Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway holds particular significance for Keselowski. While he competes in what is the longest race of the NASCAR season—a grueling 600 miles and 400 laps—he will also participate in the event’s tradition of honoring military members. This demonstrates how Keselowski continues to integrate his racing ambitions with his commitment to honoring and supporting those who serve.

As tens of thousands salute the military and first responders during the race weekend, Keselowski himself deserves recognition for his ongoing generosity and unwavering dedication to improving lives beyond the racetrack.
