Bubba Wallace Clings to Final Playoff Spot with 8 Races Left in NASCAR Cup Regular Season

Bubba Wallace currently holds the final playoff spot with eight races remaining in the NASCAR Cup regular season, despite slipping one position in the standings following multiple finishes outside the top 20. Last weekend, Wallace finished 22nd at Atlanta, while Alex Bowman, who was close to the cutline, placed third and earned enough points to overtake him on the leaderboard.

Points Battle Intensifies as Drivers Vie for Remaining Playoff Berths

This season has seen 12 different race winners, leaving four remaining playoff places to be filled by points. Those holding playoff spots without a victory include Tyler Reddick, Chris Buescher, Alex Bowman, and Bubba Wallace, each maintaining varying leads over the cutline. Reddick leads this group by 128 points, followed by Buescher (+52), Bowman (+39), and Wallace (+23).

On the other side of the cutline, Ryan Preece trails by 23 points, Erik Jones by 49, AJ Allmendinger by 59, and Carson Hocevar by 62 points, setting up a tight contest for the final playoff positions.

Upcoming Races Feature Road and Street Courses

The NASCAR Cup Series begins two consecutive weekends focused on street and road courses. This Sunday’s race takes place on the Chicago Street Course, where Alex Bowman is the defending winner. The following weekend, the series moves to Sonoma Raceway, with Kyle Larson returning as the reigning champion at that venue.
