Bubba Wallace Embraces Relaxed Mindset Ahead of Watkins Glen: “Nothing to Stress About”

Bubba Wallace is heading into the Watkins Glen race with a calm and focused mindset, having already secured his spot in the NASCAR playoffs. The 23XI Racing driver earned his first victory of the season at the Brickyard a few weeks ago, which guaranteed his entry into the postseason. Following that success, Wallace finished sixth at Iowa last Sunday, showing consistent performance as the regular season nears its conclusion with Richmond and Daytona still remaining.

During a recent media session, Wallace was asked if having a win already this season lets him concentrate more on mastering the demands of road course racing at Watkins Glen without added pressure. He responded with confidence about his readiness for the challenge ahead.

“Yeah, for sure. I got nothing to stress about. Obviously push myself harder and harder to find all the speed in our car. So I’m looking forward to that. It’s going to be a challenging day. I know that. But nonetheless get the sleeves rolled up and ready to go,” Wallace said. —Bubba Wallace, Driver

Wallace also shared how life has changed for him since he moved past the tension of needing to secure a playoff spot. He described his current state as “awesome,” focusing on the next three races as opportunities to identify and improve on weaknesses.

Wallace Supports Teammates’ Playoff Hopes as Regular Season Winds Down

With Watkins Glen approaching, Bubba Wallace expressed optimism about his 23XI Racing teammates Tyler Reddick and Riley Herbst, who have yet to claim a victory this season. Reddick, last year’s regular season champion with three wins in 2024, is currently winless and sixth in the points standings as the playoffs near.

Wallace highlighted the possibility of both teammates clinching wins in the upcoming races, which could secure their spots in the playoffs alongside him. He remains hopeful and supportive of their chances.

“Hopefully we can get the #45 locked in on a win and then you know the #35 needs to win. So if Tyler finds his road course tricks, he could win this weekend and then Riley does his super speedway magic, we could get all three cars in the playoffs. It’s not far out of the realm.” —Bubba Wallace, Driver

Despite his strong position, Wallace emphasized the importance of continuing to work hard while appreciating the relief that comes with having already won this season. He called the regular season win “pretty special” for the #23 team, underscoring how it has lifted pressure from his shoulders as he heads into the final stretch of the season.

Looking Ahead: A Chance to Focus on Growth and Team Success

With a secured playoff berth, Bubba Wallace’s mindset for Watkins Glen centers on pushing his limits while enjoying the process without the burden of must-win pressure. His hopeful attitude reflects a readiness to tackle the demanding road course, while remaining aware of the challenges ahead.

Wallace’s outlook also highlights the importance of his teammates’ potential breakthroughs, which could bring 23XI Racing multiple entries into the playoffs. As the regular season races at Watkins Glen, Richmond, and Daytona unfold, fans will watch closely to see how Wallace and his teammates perform when there is more room for growth and strategy rather than just immediate qualification.
