During the race, Hocevar spun out on the backstretch and was unable to continue due to flat tires on his No. 77 car, which brought out a caution. When safety workers approached to assist, Hocevar attempted to restart by revving his engine and spinning the tires again, putting the safety crew at risk. NASCAR penalized him for this unsafe behavior with a $50,000 fine.
Hocevar’s day was tumultuous, as he faced multiple incidents throughout the race. Earlier, he collided with J.J. Yeley’s slower car, triggering the race’s fifth caution. Later, contact from Ross Chastain was part of an 11-car crash on a restart, leading to another caution.
