Luke Fenhaus will take over driving duties in the No. 66 Ford for ThorSport Racing at this Friday’s NASCAR Truck Series race at Richmond Raceway, replacing Chris Buescher. Fenhaus, who has been the primary driver of the No. 66 truck throughout the season with 10 starts, returns for the 250-lap race around the 0.75-mile oval in Richmond, Virginia. This marks his first start since late July at Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park.
Context Behind Chris Buescher’s Absence
Chris Buescher, last year’s Cup Series winner at Watkins Glen International, recently competed in a Truck Series race at Watkins Glen for the first time in his NASCAR career. Driving the No. 66 Ford for ThorSport Racing, Buescher finished 22nd at the 2.454-mile New York road course before securing third place in Sunday’s Cup Series race at the same venue. However, Buescher will not participate in the upcoming Richmond Truck Series event as he refocuses on his Cup commitments.
Fenhaus’ Performance and Team Plans
The 21-year-old Fenhaus from Wausau, Wisconsin, made his initial Truck Series starts with ThorSport Racing last year and has since posted a best finish of third place in 2024 at Michigan International Speedway. That remains his only top-10 finish this year, although he achieved two more top-10s during his three starts in 2023. Despite Fenhaus’ upcoming return, ThorSport Racing has yet to announce their driver lineup for the seven-race playoffs scheduled over the next three rounds.
