Corey LaJoie Joins NASCAR Truck Series Final Races as Andres Perez de Lara Shifts to Niece Motorsports

Corey LaJoie is set to drive the remaining eight races of the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series season for Spire Motorsports, taking over from Andres Perez de Lara. This change was confirmed on Monday and will begin with Friday’s race at Richmond.

Andres Perez de Lara Moves to Niece Motorsports for Remainder of Season

The 20-year-old rookie Perez de Lara will complete the season racing for Niece Motorsports, as announced the same day. Currently 17th in the championship standings, Perez de Lara expressed optimism about the opportunity to race with his new team.

Overall, I’m really excited about the upcoming races with Niece Motorsports,

said Pérez de Lara.

Making a change mid-season always has its challenges, but the team and I are working hard to be 100% by the time Richmond comes. I’m really focusing on having a good race there and feel very motivated with how the team has treated me. I feel the team is also motivated with having me there as well.

Team Adjustments and LaJoie’s Previous Truck Series Experience

Alongside the driver change, Spire Motorsports will transfer owner points from their No. 07 truck to the No. 77 truck, with LaJoie behind the wheel. LaJoie has competed once in the Truck Series this season, earning a fifth-place finish at Michigan while driving the No. 07 truck for Spire Motorsports.

Impact and Outlook for the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series

This strategic shift aims to strengthen both Spire Motorsports and Niece Motorsports as the season reaches its final stages. Corey LaJoie’s return to the Truck Series adds experience to Spire’s lineup, while Perez de Lara looks to build momentum with Niece Motorsports. Fans can anticipate competitive action starting at Richmond and continuing through the closing races.
