David Malukas has recently opened up about the challenges he faced after being cut from Arrow McLaren during the 2024 season, following a mountain biking mishap that left him with severe injuries. The American racing driver emphasized that realizing he could rebound from this ordeal marked a critical turning point in his career.
Back in September 2023, Arrow McLaren announced the addition of David Malukas to their 2024 team roster. However, in an unfortunate twist, the 23-year-old suffered a dislocated left wrist and torn ligament damage just a month before the season kicked off, necessitating surgery. Despite the looming uncertainty about his comeback, Malukas was released from his contract by McLaren in April.
Undeterred by this setback, Malukas returned to the racing series, joining Meyer Shank Racing at Laguna Seca. On the Pit Pass Indy podcast, he frankly discussed the mental hurdles he surmounted during this difficult phase, highlighting how he persuaded himself to bounce back stronger.
After participating in 10 races with Meyer Shank Racing last year, Malukas secured a multi-season contract with A.J. Foyt Racing, set to begin in 2025. He made his debut with A.J. Foyt Racing at the inaugural race of the 2025 IndyCar season on the streets of St. Petersburg, finishing 13th, and went on to secure an 18th-place finish in the second round at Thermal.

The year 2025 marks only David Malukas’ fourth season in IndyCar, having debuted in 2022 with Dale Coyne Racing. The previous year, he had clinched second place in Indy Lights, right behind Kyle Kirkwood.
