Denny Hamlin’s Parents Hospitalized After House Fire

Denny Hamlin’s parents, Dennis and Mary Lou Hamlin, were hospitalized after their home in Gaston County caught fire late Sunday night. The incident left a significant portion of the residence owned by WON ONE REAL ESTATE, LLC, a company held by NASCAR driver Denny Hamlin, completely destroyed.

Extent of Damage and Emergency Response Details

Authorities responding to the scene reported that upon arrival, approximately 40 to 45 percent of the home was already engulfed in flames, according to Lucia-Riverbend Fire Department Chief David Toomey. The names of those hospitalized were not officially released by Gaston County officials, but Chief Toomey confirmed that the Hamlins were the residents affected by the fire.

The property also contained high-value items such as cars and racing memorabilia, but firefighters made notable efforts to prevent further loss. As Toomey told The Athletic,

“They had some really expensive cars in the garage and some racing memorabilia and stuff, so all that was saved,”

David Toomey, Lucia-Riverbend Fire Department Chief. He further added,

“We were able to save all that and get it out so it wasn’t damaged,”

Aftermath and Community Reaction

As of now, Denny Hamlin has not released a public statement regarding his parents’ condition or the aftermath of the fire. The event has left the home a total loss, but the preservation of cherished racing items and vehicles provided some solace. Local emergency services and the racing community are closely monitoring the situation as the Hamlin family recovers from the incident.
