Ducati Dominates Misano MotoGP Podium Amid Bagnaia’s Rising Pressure

At the Misano circuit on Sunday, Ducati proved its strength by capturing two podium positions, showcasing the team’s dominance once again. This performance spotlighted Gigi Dall’Igna, Ducati’s technical director, who celebrated Marc Marquez’s impressive return to form after a fierce battle against Marco Bezzecchi of Aprilia. The race kept spectators captivated as Marquez narrowly outpaced Bezzecchi in an intense duel.

Dall’Igna Comments on the Intense Rivalry and Ducati’s Overall Strength

Speaking to Sky, Gigi Dall’Igna praised the competitive nature of the Misano track and the riders’ performances.

This track always delivers incredible spectacle,

he said. He further explained the expectations regarding Bezzecchi’s strong showing:

We expected Bezzecchi to be strong and competitive, especially since he knows this track inside out, and his bike is working exceptionally well. We believed he could contend right until the end.

Dall’Igna emphasized the considerable lead the top two riders established over the others, noting,

Those two riders were racing in a league of their own, separate from the others. Yet, having five Ducatis in the top six spots signifies that our package performed well here in Misano.

When asked about whether this gap in performance was due to the riders’ skills, he added,

The difference is significant. I believe Alex managed his race well as he couldn’t risk going for the win. That’s my perspective, although we haven’t had a chance to discuss it yet.

Preparation for Upcoming Testing and Managing Expectations

Looking ahead, Ducati’s focus turns to the important testing sessions scheduled for the following day. Dall’Igna conveyed measured optimism about the potential gains from these tests:

You certainly can’t pull a rabbit out of a hat in just one day of testing. It will be a vital day, and I hope for fruitful outcomes. Everything matters, but nothing is absolutely critical.

Addressing Bagnaia’s Struggles and Team Morale

Francesco Bagnaia’s ongoing frustrations were a topic of open discussion, with Dall’Igna acknowledging the pressure felt by the rider and his supporters.

I, too, have lost patience, just like Pecco’s fans. It’s normal to voice such concerns when results are not forthcoming.

The Misano race underscored Ducati’s strength but also highlighted the challenges ahead, particularly for Bagnaia as he seeks to reclaim consistent top performances and ease mounting expectations.

The Road Ahead for Ducati and Its Riders

As Ducati reflects on the highs of Misano and the competitive dynamics across the season, the team is preparing for the next phase of racing. The spotlight remains on Bagnaia and his ability to overcome current hurdles, while maintaining the momentum Ducati has demonstrated. Fans eagerly anticipate how this unfolding MotoGP season will develop, with Ducati firmly positioned as a major contender across the remaining events.
