Enea Bastianini’s Chaotic Le Mans Race: Crashes, Penalties, and a Destroyed Bike Shake the French GP

Enea Bastianini endured a tumultuous race at Le Mans, finishing 13th after a series of crashes, strategic errors, and a penalty disrupted his performance during the French Grand Prix. The Italian rider faced unpredictable track conditions and tough decisions that ultimately compromised his race, leaving fans anxious about his prospects.

From the start, Bastianini revealed the difficulty of the race:

“Yeah. Crazy race. And it was difficult, I think, for everybody because the situation on track was really on the limit.”

Choosing slick tires initially, the team believed this was the best option at the time. However, trouble struck immediately as he collided with Pecco at the first corner due to braking errors, causing a crash that also involved other riders.

Despite this setback, Bastianini attempted to continue but crashed again while trying to rejoin the race. Fortunately, rain arrived and allowed him to switch bikes, as his first one was “completely destroyed.” Yet the challenges persisted when he resumed with the wet setup, only to face a penalty for exiting the pit lane without the limiter activated. While others took two Long Lap penalties, Bastianini accepted his own, which affected his final position and added pressure for the next race.

This chaotic sequence has serious implications for Enea Bastianini’s momentum during the season, highlighting how split-second decisions and unpredictable weather can derail even the most skilled racers. As the championship progresses, Bastianini must recover both confidence and points, while teams analyze how such chaos might be better managed in future races.
