Fabio Di Giannantonio has set his sights on battling for the MotoGP championship, powered by the potential of his Ducati Desmosedici GP25. After achieving his first podium in the 2023 season at the GP of the Americas, the Pertamina Enduro VR46 rider believes he can contend for the title, despite being the only competitor with this bike outside the factory team. During a press conference, Di Giannantonio emphasized his ambition, stating, “That was the goal. We have the same bike as the first four guys in the championship. For sure, we have the potential to do it.” Though he faced setbacks earlier this season due to injuries, his recovery has reinvigorated his focus.
However, Di Giannantonio underscored that reaching the top requires more than sporadic podium finishes. “For sure, we know that to fight for the championship, you don’t only need a podium; you need to start getting many podiums and many wins,” he remarked. The Italian rider, though encouraged by his recent success, admits his attention isn’t solely on the standings. “It will be a long season, we are just getting started. I think first of all, we have to be focused on keeping this momentum and performances,” he added.
Highlighting the length and unpredictability of the season, Di Giannantonio iterated the importance of enjoying the racing process. With numerous races and sprints ahead, maintaining confidence is crucial. As Di Giannantonio continues to navigate the MotoGP series, his focus on flowing through each race with enjoyment might be key in his pursuit of the MotoGP title. Such an approach not only showcases his strategic mindset but also his acknowledgment of the challenges that lie ahead.
