Fabio Di Giannantonio overcame a challenging MotoGP season to secure a podium finish by placing third in the Sprint race at the British Grand Prix this past Saturday. This achievement marked a significant moment for the Italian rider, showcasing his renewed competitiveness and determination.
Extensive Preparation Contributed to Improved Performance
The Pertamina Enduro VR46 rider emphasized the careful preparation leading up to the British GP as a key factor in his success.
“This weekend has been so good for us so far. This week we did a super job at home, because we did a lot of video calls, meetings. We tried not to waste any minute, we understood many things that we had to try here that could help my feeling with the bike. And for now everything helps. My feeling with the bike is improving run by run, I’m feeling much better, the speed is also improving in every session,”
Di Giannantonio explained.
Podium Result Is Encouraging, but Victory Remains the Goal
While pleased with his third-place finish, Di Giannantonio is clear about his future ambitions.
“I’m really pleased with today’s Sprint podium. For sure, the goal for us in the near future is to also fight for victories. But for now, I take my P3 from today, I’m super happy. It was a super come back, it was not easy in a short race. So, everything from today is positive,”
he stated, reflecting his optimistic and driven mindset.
Key Improvements in Riding Technique Boost Competitiveness
The rider described how refining his approach to cornering played a crucial role in his ability to overtake competitors and maintain speed.
“I improved a lot the entry and corner speed, which are the good points of my riding style. I had lost them a bit this year with the bike that I was riding, and since this weekend I’m starting to enter really quick into the corners and having a good corner speed. That was the key to overtake the other riders, I was able to recover a lot of ground there and prepare the exit well. That’s where I was stronger than the guys I overtook,”
he outlined.
Balanced Tyre Management Helps Sustain Performance
Maintaining tyre condition throughout the race was another area where Di Giannantonio felt he excelled.
“I’m always quite gentle with the tyres, I always try not to stress them. I’m super smooth with the throttle. In the end I was feeling the tyre drop, but not that much. And with my entry speed I was also helping the front. It’s a mix of factors to be back to the Di Gia who is treating well the tyres and fast at the same time. Step by step we are getting back to a normal feeling for me,”
he commented, highlighting the thoughtful balance between speed and tyre care.
Significance and Future Outlook for Di Giannantonio
Di Giannantonio’s sprint podium at the British GP represents a turning point in a tough season, signaling progress in his riding technique, bike setup, and overall race strategy. This result not only boosts his confidence but also sets a foundation for his pursuit of race victories moving forward. His ability to adapt and improve under pressure suggests he will remain a strong contender in upcoming MotoGP events.
