Fabio Quartararo arrives at the TT Circuit Assen this weekend with a clear goal: to recover from a challenging Italian Grand Prix and find improved results during the tenth round of the 2025 MotoGP season in the Netherlands. The French rider is banking on the characteristics of the Assen track to regain momentum following recent setbacks.
Strong History and Confidence at the Dutch Venue
Quartararo openly favors Assen’s layout, where he has enjoyed significant success over the years. Speaking about the two tracks, he said,
“I really like Mugello, but I also really like Assen. Actually, I think this could potentially be a better track for us,”
referring to his team, Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP. His achievements at Assen include three podium finishes: third place in 2019, a victory in 2021, and a third place in the 2023 Sprint event, underscoring his affinity for the venue.
Refocusing After a Difficult Italian Grand Prix
The Frenchman admitted that the Mugello race did not meet expectations but emphasized moving forward. He stated,
“The Italian GP was a lot more difficult than expected, but we’re leaving that weekend behind us now and focus on the next round in the Netherlands.”
Currently positioned tenth in the championship standings, Quartararo is determined to improve his rankings.
Clear Plan and Optimism for the Upcoming Races
Quartararo’s approach to the Dutch Grand Prix remains straightforward, with specific goals set for the event weekend. He explained,
“The goal is always the same: get straight into Q2 on the Friday, do a good qualifying, and then we’ll see,”
displaying measured optimism.
“I hope we can fight for some better positions this weekend,”
he added, expressing hope for a stronger performance.
Additional Significance Amid Yamaha’s 70th Anniversary
This Grand Prix holds extra meaning for Yamaha, celebrating its 70th anniversary in the motorcycle racing world. The event at Assen, often called the “Cathedral” of motorcycling by riders and fans alike, presents an important occasion for the Japanese brand as well as for Quartararo to make a memorable impact.
