As the MotoGP calendar pauses for the summer break, Fabio Quartararo, the standout Yamaha rider, takes time to reflect on the 2025 season’s dramatic moments. His insights reveal the blend of triumph and frustration he has experienced while chasing victory this year.
During a detailed interview with Speedweek, Quartararo discussed the bittersweet memory of leading the Silverstone race, only to face an untimely and disappointing end.
“It was the worst moment, but also the best,”
he said.
“It was the first time this year that we were fighting for victory, and the only one so far. So, it was a positive moment, but when something like that happens, and you can’t finish the race, it’s always very tough.”
Handling Setbacks and Embracing Resilience
The young French rider reflected on the difficult emotions that accompanied this setback, noting how the situation was made worse by the fact that he was in the lead.
“The abandonment occurred in the worst possible situation, that is, when we were leading. But that’s the racing world, sometimes these things happen,”
Quartararo mused, showing his acceptance of the unpredictable nature of the sport.
Despite the challenges, Quartararo expressed the support he receives from those close to him, which helps maintain perspective amid the pressure.
“I am here with my friends, my manager is my best friend, his girlfriend is my best friend. We find ourselves in a situation where there are always worse things in life, and I enjoy good health, which is the most important thing,”
he shared, highlighting the value of relationships and well-being.
Quartararo’s Strengths and Focus on Improvement
Quartararo also talked about his particular skills on the track, especially his ability to produce outstanding laps under pressure.
“I have the feeling that pace in one lap is my greatest strength since I’ve been in MotoGP. I can isolate myself from the world and give it my all during a lap,”
the Frenchman explained. He added,
“In good conditions and with confidence, I can have a great qualifying. A good qualifying for us is to be among the top five.”
Looking forward, Quartararo remains determined to refine his technique and address the complex challenges of race management.
“It’s never easy, but in one fast lap, I can push beyond my limits. In a race, it’s different because you have to consider many things: the tires, the temperature, the electronics. We still have work to do, but in one lap, you don’t think about anything else but pushing the limits,”
he concluded.
Preparing for the Second Half of the MotoGP Season
As the season resumes, Fabio Quartararo’s reflections demonstrate his resilience and confidence, reinforcing his resolve to reclaim the top spot on the podium. His blend of passion and determination positions him as one of the sport’s leading talents, ready to make a significant impact in the races ahead.
