Felix Rosenqvist, the driver for Meyer Shank Racing, has raised concerns regarding uncertainties over the team‘s car setup for the upcoming Iowa doubleheader races scheduled from July 11 to 13. The Swedish driver is preparing for two consecutive races at Iowa Speedway, where changes to race length and track conditions have left the team unsure about their optimal configuration.
Rosenqvist pilots the #60 Honda-powered Meyer Shank Racing car, and after participating in testing at Iowa on June 25, he shared insights about the challenges the team is facing with the doubleheader format. Each race over the weekend, on July 12 and July 13, will be 25 laps longer than in the previous year, adding to the complexity of their preparation.
Uncertainty Surrounding Doubleheader Race Setup for Iowa Speedway
During the recent Iowa test session, the Meyer Shank Racing drivers completed multiple laps to ready themselves for the distinct demands of the two races, though the session was closed to the public and no data has been released. Rosenqvist highlighted the ongoing indecision about which aerodynamic setup will be utilized in the back-to-back races, reflecting the uncertainty that the team is navigating.
“I think we’re still not sure, like, exactly what we’re going to run in the race in terms of downforce and stuff. I think we’re still deciding. So we tried a bunch of different setups, basically so we’re ready for whatever it’s going to be. Also, like in the test, I normally run the highline. I think the highline will be usable in the race but normally on a race like this you just kind of end up in a single file. So still more to come always great to be out here it’s double points technically with two races so even more important.” Felix Rosenqvist said via IndyCar on Fox (0:27 onwards)
Rosenqvist typically runs the highline during tests, but he noted that during the race, cars tend to line up in a single file, which influences tactical decisions around car setup. The additional points awarded for the two races increase the stakes, making setup choices critical for positioning in the championship.

Performance Highlights Leading Into the Iowa Event
The 33-year-old Swedish driver has demonstrated consistent competitiveness during the 2025 IndyCar season. At the Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg on March 2, Rosenqvist qualified third but finished the race in seventh position. More recently, at the XPEL Grand Prix of Road America, he qualified twelfth and impressively advanced to finish second, securing his first podium finish of the season.
Rosenqvist Reflects on His Podium Finish at Road America
Rosenqvist ended a podium drought with his second-place finish at the chaotic Road America race, where multiple drivers collided with the barriers. Maintaining composure amid the disorder allowed him to capitalize on the opportunity and achieve a strong result.
“Yeah, I think we had kind of bad luck in the last few races, haven’t really had a good go. But yeah, good comeback now, it’s been a while since I’ve been on the podium, had to ask on the radio where to park the car so it’s a good thing. I feel like we finally got what we deserved this year,” Felix Rosenqvist said via IndyCar on Fox (0:19 onwards).
Currently, Rosenqvist is positioned fourth in the drivers‘ championship standings with 231 points, reflecting his steady accumulation of points despite previous setbacks.
Implications for Meyer Shank Racing’s Strategy at Iowa
As the doubleheader in Iowa approaches, Meyer Shank Racing faces a crucial decision in selecting the race setup that can deliver the best performance across two demanding events. The extended lap count and potential variations in race traffic patterns add complexity to these choices. Rosenqvist’s experience and adaptability will be essential for maximizing the team‘s results in this unique weekend format.
The upcoming races hold significant weight due to double points being offered, making it imperative for Rosenqvist and his team to resolve their setup uncertainties to maintain a strong position in the championship battle as the season progresses.
