Graham Rahal Cheers Sukup’s Debut as New IndyCar Sponsor for Iowa Races

Graham Rahal, a prominent figure in IndyCar racing, extended his warm congratulations to Sukup, the new sponsor for the Iowa race weekend. Sukup, the largest family-owned grain bin manufacturer, has stepped in as the weekend sponsor, replacing the grocery chain Hy-Vee, which had been sponsoring the event since 2022. Rahal shared his thoughts on X, commending the Sukup family for their achievements.

Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing, the team Rahal drives for, is entering a fresh phase with Jay Frye taking on the role of Team President. Frye, formerly the IndyCar president, is tasked with revitalizing the team, which has faced challenges in recent years. Despite the team’s struggles, Rahal remains optimistic about the new leadership under Frye, who brings a wealth of experience to RLL.

Having met Steve Sukup during past visits to Iowa, Rahal expressed genuine happiness for Sukup’s involvement in the sport. The partnership marks a significant milestone for the Iowa-based company, providing them a platform to showcase their brand on a prestigious stage like the IndyCar series. This collaboration is anticipated to bring fresh energy and enthusiasm to the races, benefiting both parties involved.

Jay Frye’s vast experience is expected to be a valuable asset to RLL as they aim to overcome recent setbacks. Although Rahal has had to deal with a podium-less campaign last year, he remains hopeful for a turnaround under Frye’s leadership. The team’s last victory was in 2023, making this new partnership and leadership change a crucial step towards reclaiming their former success.

The introduction of Sukup as a new sponsor, along with the internal changes at RLL, are likely to invigorate the team and the racing community. As these developments unfold, Graham Rahal and his team continue to strive for excellence, setting the stage for an exciting future in the IndyCar series.
