From NASCAR beginnings to adapting in Indy NXT
Once heralded as a rising star in NASCAR, Hailie Deegan earned three victories in the ARCA Menards Series West by the age of 17 and was positioned for a spot in the NASCAR National Series under the Ford banner. She debuted in the NASCAR Truck Series in 2020 but faced challenges replicating her earlier success. Currently, in the Indy NXT open-wheel series, Deegan has struggled to break into the top ranks.
Her best result this season came in the opener at St. Petersburg with a 14th-place finish. Following that, she placed 17th twice at Barber Motorsports Park and during the first race at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Road Course, then 18th in the second race at Indianapolis. After multiple race weekends, Deegan sits 19th in the championship points standings with 54 points accumulated.

Embracing the Indy NXT opportunity with HMD Motorsports
Hailie Deegan is recognized as one of the most prominent female drivers in American motorsports, having competed in various NASCAR series including the ARCA Menards Series, NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, and Xfinity Series. In October last year, she ended her tenure with AM Racing and shifted focus toward open-wheel racing by joining Indy NXT, a developmental series that feeds into the top-tier IndyCar championship.
After five seasons in NASCAR from 2019 to 2024, Deegan is navigating this new phase with a determined mindset. She expressed excitement about working with HMD Motorsports and acknowledged the learning curve that lies ahead.
“I am excited about the opportunity and look forward to working with a proven program in HMD Motorsports. I have much to learn, but I am ready to go. The team brings a wealth of knowledge for me to pull from, and I look forward to soaking up as much of that as possible before my race debut next March in St. Petersburg.” Deegan said via Indy NXT.
Sponsorship continuity and focus on upcoming Detroit race
Monster Energy continues to support Deegan as her primary sponsor in Indy NXT, maintaining their partnership from her NASCAR days. As part of a 25-driver field in the series, Deegan is preparing to compete on the challenging street circuit in Detroit on June 1. This event represents a critical opportunity for her to translate practice and experience into improved race results and further establish herself in open-wheel racing.
