Jake Finch Secures Five Flags Victory, Sets Sights on ARCA Menards Triumph at Talladega

Jake Finch, a speedy contender hailing from Lynn Haven, Florida, is making headlines with his exhilarating journey in the ARCA Menards Series. This Saturday, Finch is aiming for a second consecutive win at the iconic Talladega Superspeedway. The excitement follows his remarkable performance at Five Flags Speedway, where he claimed victory in the Allen Turner Pro Late Model Series season opener. Battling fiercely against robust competitors, Finch emerged victorious despite missing practice due to his participation in the Talladega sessions earlier in the day.

Arriving just in time for qualifying, Finch managed to secure the eighth-fastest time, while Cole Williams recorded the fastest. The race proved intense, with Williams emerging as Finch’s toughest rival. However, with skillful maneuvering, Finch seized the lead on lap 73 of the 100-lap race, crossing the finish line 1.4 seconds ahead of another determined racer, Dustin Smith.

This victory marks an impressive start to Finch’s season as he pursues the Road to the Allen Turner Snowflake 100, a prestigious Pro Late Model event held annually at Five Flags. Finch’s alliance with Ronnie Sanders Racing continues to bear fruit, exemplified by his growing collection of wins in the series. “It’s super cool to be able to come here tonight and be able to run this 18 car,” Finch expressed enthusiastically, proud of his performance and eager to replicate it at Talladega.

During his preparation at Talladega, Finch’s practice efforts were aided by Colin Allman, who turned laps in the Ronnie Sanders No. 18 car at Five Flags. Finch appreciated Allman’s support while he worked on his Venturini Motorsports No. 25. “I appreciated Colin helping out,” Finch said. “We had a really good race car, obviously. Had a good car at Talladega, too, so hopefully, we can get the job done there tomorrow as well.”

Reflecting on his previous triumph at Talladega, where he led every lap for a stunning victory, Finch maintains realistic expectations for the upcoming race. “I don’t know about leading every lap tomorrow. That’s an anomaly for sure. We’re excited to get there tomorrow, and I just want to lead the last one,” Finch remarked optimistically, setting his sights on another significant achievement.

As Finch prepares for Talladega Superspeedway, other racers from Friday’s event, including Dustin Smith, head towards Mobile International Speedway for the next Gulf Coast Doubleheader race. Smith, who secured a second-place finish at Five Flags, shared his gratitude for the support he received and optimism for the competition ahead. “I can’t do it without all these guys behind me,” said Smith, acknowledging his team’s support. “We had a pretty good car tonight. It just got a little tight there at the end.”

Friday’s race also saw John Bolen overcome early hurdles to claim the third spot on the podium. Despite facing challenges with his car’s handling, Bolen’s persistence with the help of his team paid off. “I’ve got to thank all my guys, Tony Eury, Sr. and all my guys that kept working on it. They didn’t give up,” Bolen stated, reflecting on their efforts in adjusting the car for success.
