During the MotoGP summer pause, reigning world champion Jorge Martin switched gears by participating in an intense cycling competition in Andorra. On August 3rd, Martin left his RS-GP motorcycle behind to ride in La Purito, a challenging one-day cycling race notorious for its mountainous terrain.

The event tested riders with six major climbs, covering 115 kilometers and an elevation gain of 4,800 meters. Starting from Sant Julià de Lòria, participants finished at Els Cortals d’Encamp, located over 2,000 meters above sea level. Martin completed the grueling course in 5 hours and 24 minutes, maintaining an average speed of 20.7 km/h, an impressive accomplishment for a MotoGP rider.

La Purito was designed by Joaquim Rodríguez, a former professional cyclist known for winning stages in all three Grand Tours and ranking as world number one. The race is celebrated for being

the most beautiful, spectacular, and challenging one-day cycling race in Europe.

Jorge Martin has competed in this race before, but this year he managed to improve his time by shaving off 40 minutes compared to his 2024 performance, reflecting his growing strength and endurance on the bike.
