Kyle Busch Reveals How Son Brexton’s Rising Role at RCR Boosts Their Racing Legacy and Budget

Richard Childress Racing (RCR) recently secured Kyle Busch’s commitment through the 2026 season, strengthening their partnership with the two-time Cup Series champion. In addition to Kyle’s continued presence, the team is also focusing on his 10-year-old son, Brexton Busch, as part of their long-term vision to extend the Busch family’s impact on NASCAR’s future.

Kyle Busch, competing in his 20th Cup Series season, is preparing to race the No. 8 RCR Chevrolet ZL1 in the upcoming Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway, the longest and one of the most prestigious events on the NASCAR calendar, a race he won in 2018. Despite his extensive accomplishments, Kyle remains driven and optimistic about the future, with an eye on helping Brexton establish his own path in racing.

Brexton’s Growing Involvement Within Richard Childress Racing

Although retirement for Kyle Busch is not imminent, he envisions passing the torch to his son someday. Speaking at the Charlotte Motor Speedway media center, Kyle shared a glimpse of their racing plans:

“There’s kind of a vision, a plan if you will, on being able to race in some Truck races, with Brexton, alongside him. Obviously, it’s six years from now until he can make that start. That would be an idea when I would look at stepping aside from Cup Series racing. But that’s a long ways out.”

This plan underlines Kyle’s hopes of maintaining the Busch family’s connection to RCR, eventually competing with Brexton in the Truck Series when he reaches the eligible age of 16.

Financial Support and Sponsorship Growing Around Brexton Busch

Kyle also highlighted the financial backing that Brexton is beginning to attract, which is vital for racing careers from a young age. Several sponsors affiliated with RCR have taken interest in Brexton’s journey, helping to ease the financial demands of his early races. Kyle explained:

“I’m grateful to Richard and all of our partners that we have at RCR, that many of them do take an interest in him, and see an interest in him, most notably Lucas Oil is a part of his racing,”

Morgan & Morgan has picked up on that and put him in a commercial. So those are really unique situations. Cheddar’s as well too. Helps out on his racing.

So those are unique situations where those partners are really happy and pleased with him and what he’s doing off the racetrack. So it helps our budget a little bit with his racing. Grateful to that fact.

These sponsorships contribute toward Brexton’s racing budget while also boosting his profile both on and off the track, something relatively rare for a 10-year-old racer.

Brexton’s Early Steps Toward a Career in Racing

Despite his young age, Brexton has already begun making strides, including his recent debut in Legends car racing at Hickory Motor Speedway. He finished 16th in a competitive event that featured Kevin Harvick’s son, Keelan, underscoring the growing presence of next-generation drivers tied to prominent racing families.

Brexton maintains an active social media presence and even his own website, helping to build a personal brand early on. When Kyle signed with RCR in 2022, Richard Childress marked the occasion by presenting Brexton with a ceremonial contract along with a $100 bill, symbolizing the future of the Busch legacy at RCR.

Kyle’s Perspective on Managing Brexton’s Career Path

Kyle Busch has joked about not yet becoming his son’s agent, acknowledging the balance between supporting Brexton and allowing him to develop organically in the sport. Given the youngest drivers typically start at age 18 and the Truck Series minimum age is 16, there is still time before Brexton officially enters professional competition.

Despite that, Kyle remains hopeful and intentional about carving a path that supports his son’s progression while continuing his own career at RCR. The family’s enduring association with the team promises to keep the Busch name prominent in NASCAR for years to come.
