Kyle Kirkwood Recalls IndyCar Victory, Enjoys Bahamas Getaway with Girlfriend

IndyCar driver Kyle Kirkwood, known for driving the No. 27 Honda for Andretti Global, recently delighted fans with a vibrant glimpse into his downtime. During a brief hiatus between IndyCar races, Kirkwood embarked on a trip to the Bahamas with his girlfriend, Vicky Schaffner. Sharing a carousel of images and videos on Instagram, Kirkwood showcased their adventures around the stunning coastlines, an interim pause before the upcoming Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach.

The couple enjoyed a much-needed escape during the three-week break leading up to the anticipated race on April 16, 2023. Their journey included exploring the picturesque Marsh Harbour and enjoying local favorites like Nipper’s Beach Bar & Grill on Great Guana Cay. Schaffner also documented their tropical adventure, alluding to the warm Caribbean climate through her own social media posts.

Kirkwood and Schaffner, together for three years, often maintain privacy about their relationship, but Schaffner consistently supports Kirkwood at major racing events, including the Indianapolis 500. Their trip to the Bahamas offered a thrilling contrast to the intense world of professional racing.

Amidst this personal time, Kirkwood reminisced about his notable achievement—his first IndyCar win at the Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach. On April 16, 2023, he claimed his inaugural victory with Andretti Autosport, securing the pole position and leading 53 of the 85 laps. Kirkwood’s teammate Romain Grosjean followed, marking a triumphant one-two finish for Andretti. This memorable feat came as Kirkwood fondly reflected on it in a post shared by IndyCar, recalling the triumph.

As the anticipation builds for the 50th edition of the Acura Grand Prix in 2025, Kirkwood’s past success remains a significant highlight in his racing career. Currently ranked sixth in the driver’s standings with 54 points, he stands as the leading competitor for Andretti Global. This promising trajectory not only underscores his talent but also suggests exciting prospects for his future in the IndyCar series.

Kyle Kirkwood’s reflection on his IndyCar victory interspersed with the vibrant moments from his Bahamas retreat offers a blend of personal joy and professional achievement, leaving fans eager for what lies ahead.
