Kyle Larson’s Daughter Audrey Racing with Sass and Family Attitude

Kyle Larson’s seven-year-old daughter, Audrey, is already making strides in her racing career, having competed in the junior sprint category of the BC39 event held earlier this year at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. As she follows her father’s footsteps in motorsports, Audrey has developed a distinct and lively personality that stands out both on and off the track.

During a recent episode of The Teardown podcast, Kyle Larson discussed how Audrey listens to his advice compared to his eldest son, Owen. While Owen tends to seek guidance from other mentors, Audrey is more receptive to her father’s instructions, though this comes with a spirited attitude.

Larson described her temperament, saying,

“She can comprehend it, but she’s still like, she’s so sassy. If you ever hung around her, you’d be like, ‘Oh my gosh, she’s got some attitude.’ You know, like a funny, good attitude.”

The Playful Defiance That Shapes Audrey’s Racing Experience

Kyle shared an incident from a recent race in California to illustrate Audrey’s cheeky approach. After advising her about a mistake during the competition, Audrey responded with playful defiance before the error was made in the feature race.

He recalled,

“I told her, and she’s like, ‘Yeah, I know what I’m doing.’ So then, she made the mistake in the feature. And I’m like, ‘I thought you knew what you were doing.’ And she’s like, ‘Whatever, I know I messed up.’”

This type of banter is typical in the Larson family, as Kyle noted that his sister Andrea shares a similar strong-willed character. He added,

“Although my parents say Audrey’s like ten times compared to what she was growing up, my sister is very proud to say that they’re twins.”

Audrey’s Battle with Alopecia and Family Support

Approximately eighteen months after her birth, Audrey was diagnosed with alopecia, an autoimmune disorder that leads to hair loss. Her mother, Katelyn, revealed this diagnosis publicly in 2022 through social media while explaining that symptoms began appearing when Audrey was around one and a half years old. Doctors had not confirmed the condition officially until that time.

To raise awareness and support for alopecia, the Larson family launched a t-shirt campaign, pledging that all proceeds would benefit the National Alopecia Areata Foundation (NAAF), a key organization assisting those affected by this disorder.

The Significance of Audrey’s Early Racing Career

Audrey Larson’s entrance into racing demonstrates both her passion and the family’s commitment to motorsports, echoing her father’s success while forging her own path. Her spirited nature and candid attitude make her a memorable presence on the track, reflecting a deep family bond characterized by support and friendly competition.

As Audrey continues to develop her skills and gain experience, her early connection with the sport and her family’s support system will likely play critical roles in shaping her future. Meanwhile, raising awareness for alopecia through the family’s advocacy efforts adds another meaningful layer to her story beyond racing.
