Hendrick Reveals Sleek New Paint Schemes for Kyle Larson’s Indy 500, Coca-Cola 600 Double Challenge

Kyle Larson is gearing up to tackle a unique doubleheader challenge, racing in both the Indianapolis 500 and the Coca-Cola 600 on May 25. This bold attempt will see him cover an astounding 1,100 miles in a single day. Larson, known for his exceptional racing prowess, has unveiled striking new paint schemes by Hendrick Automotive Group, which were showcased on YouTube, specifically for this challenge.

“HendrickCars.com doesn’t change its paint scheme very often, but when they do, I feel like they go all in and really make it worthwhile,” Larson stated. He expressed excitement about the fresh look, indicating this renewed effort is infused with optimism and motivation. Unlike last year, when weather disruptions derailed his plans, this time Larson is focused entirely on the opportunities ahead.

Larson’s previous attempt to complete this grueling double didn’t go smoothly. Adverse weather caused delays at the Indy 500, forcing him to miss the beginning of the Coca-Cola 600 in Charlotte. Despite finishing P18 at Indianapolis, Larson wasn’t able to start the NASCAR race in time due to further weather issues, leaving the No. 5 Chevrolet unused for the day.

This year, additional preparations are being made to counter weather challenges. Rick Hendrick, the team’s owner, assured that contingency plans are in place if rain impacts the Indy 500’s schedule. Tony Kanaan, the 2004 IndyCar Series champion, is lined up as the backup driver for the No. 17 Dallara DW12, ready to step in if necessary.

Kyle Larson’s IndyCar debut showcased his talent as he set a rookie record during Indy 500 qualifying, with a single lap speed reaching 233.543 mph. Although a pit road penalty affected his contention, Larson’s performance demonstrated his capabilities within both the IndyCar Series and NASCAR circuits.

Beyond this high-profile event, Larson’s attention remains on the 2025 Cup Series season, where he is currently positioned second in points, trailing behind teammate William Byron. Larson, the 2021 Cup champion, is relentless in his pursuit of success, having secured a recent victory at Homestead. His targets are clear: conquering the double challenge while remaining a formidable contender in the Cup Series.

As the race day approaches, fans and enthusiasts eagerly await to see if Kyle Larson can overcome challenges and etch his name in racing history by successfully completing the Indy 500 and Coca-Cola 600 double. This event holds significant promise not only for Larson but for motorsport fans intrigued by the possibilities of endurance racing.
