Kyle Larson Honors Sherry Pollex’s Legacy with Major SherryStrong Donation Ahead of Charity Event

The Kyle Larson Foundation has committed its annual event grant to the SherryStrong Foundation in tribute to Sherry Pollex’s enduring legacy. This donation coincides with the renewed collaboration between the Catwalk for Causes gala and Larson’s charitable efforts.

Sherry Pollex, longtime partner of former NASCAR Cup Series champion Martin Truex Jr., was a two-time cancer survivor who passed away in 2023. She originally founded Catwalk for Causes, a fashion gala where children facing health challenges walk the runway alongside well-known athletes. Since its inception in 2009, the event has raised over $5 million.

Larson’s Personal Connection and Upcoming Event Participation

Kyle Larson, a Hendrick Motorsports driver, has previously taken part in Catwalk for Causes, walking the runway with his wife, Katelyn. The upcoming event is scheduled for September 16, and Larson has announced a significant contribution from his foundation to honor Pollex’s vision.

“Katelyn and I have always enjoyed participating in Catwalk for a Cause. It is one of our favourite nights and such a privilege to walk the runway with the most amazing kids. To honor the heart and soul behind catwalk, The Kyle Larson Foundation will donate it’s grant to Sherrystrong, to further carry on the vision and legacy of Sherry(Pollex),” he said in a statement via Instagram/Kyle Larson Foundation.

Additionally, the event benefits from support by Kyle and Samantha Busch’s Bundle of Joy Fund and is being organized by Speedway Children’s Charities, enhancing its impact on children facing health issues.

Kyle Larson’s Racing Focus Amid Charity Commitment

Aside from his charitable efforts, Kyle Larson is preparing to race at Iowa Speedway on Sunday, August 3. After earning the pole position but missing out on victory last year, Larson aims to secure a win this time. Fans can watch the race live on USA Network and HBO Max at 3:30 PM ET.

Reflecting on the Brickyard 400 and Bubba Wallace’s Inside Advantage

Reflecting on his recent loss at the Brickyard 400 to Bubba Wallace, Larson acknowledged the difficulty of overtaking Wallace’s inside line advantage at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, admitting there was little he could have done differently during the race.

“There’s nothing you can do here (at Indianapolis Motor Speedway) to pass, so no, I don’t really think there was anything I could do differently….On the second restart, he brought the pace down a little bit slower, so I needed to be first gear. It was kind of the same thing with me last year – he had the preferred lane on the inside and it’s really hard to beat that,” he said via NBC Sports.

Larson started outside the top 10 and chose to stay out during Stage 2 pit stops in an effort to stay competitive. Despite his efforts, Wallace maintained the lead through fuel uncertainty and overtime restarts.

Nevertheless, Larson’s performance earned him 47 points—the most since his last win at Kansas Speedway—placing him just 15 points behind season leader and teammate Chase Elliott.

Significance of Larson’s Donation and Future Impact

Kyle Larson’s SherryStrong donation not only pays tribute to Sherry Pollex’s impactful work but also strengthens the ongoing mission to support children with health challenges. By partnering with well-established organizations and celebrities, the foundation is poised to continue making a positive difference in many young lives. This charitable momentum, combined with Larson’s determined racing season, highlights his commitment both on and off the track.
