Lewis Hamilton Claps Back at Alonso’s Singapore GP Rant

During the recent Singapore GP, Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso, the oldest active drivers in Formula 1, experienced a challenging race marked by intense rivalry and technical difficulties. The Lewis Hamilton Singapore GP contest became notable as Hamilton clashed with Alonso in the final stages, leading to a dramatic conclusion that reflected their longstanding competition in the sport.

Intense On-Track Battle Between Hamilton and Alonso at Singapore

At the Singapore Grand Prix, the final laps saw a fierce race between Hamilton and Alonso for seventh place. Hamilton, who debuted in the 2007 season and previously raced alongside Alonso at McLaren, faced brake failure in the last lap, forcing him to cut several corners to keep his position. Despite Alonso closing a fifty-second gap, he was unable to pass Hamilton during the race.

Hampered by the brake issue, Hamilton received a five-second penalty after the race, dropping him from seventh to ninth and handing the higher position to Alonso. This back-and-forth battle echoed their intense rivalry dating back more than eighteen years, prompting spirited exchanges over the team radios.

Hamilton Responds with Humor Over Their Enduring Rivalry

After the race, Hamilton responded to Alonso’s critical remarks by sharing a humorous post on Instagram. He posted a clip of Richard Wilson from the TV show One Foot in the Grave saying the iconic line, “I don’t believe it.” Alongside the video, Hamilton captioned it, “18 years off..,” highlighting just how long their rivalry has spanned in Formula 1.

This playful jab served to both acknowledge their enduring competition and underline the longevity of their careers, considering Alonso’s career start in 2001, along with his three-year break, and Hamilton’s early days racing alongside Alonso at McLaren.

Hamilton Reflects on a Difficult Singapore Weekend

Hamilton described his Singapore Grand Prix experience as challenging from the outset. The race weekend started poorly when qualifying ended with him in seventh position. His race pace was affected by mechanical trouble, especially the brake failure that cost him valuable positions and points.

Despite these setbacks, Hamilton emphasized that there were some bright spots during the race. He felt confident in the car and noted strong attacking pace in the final portion of the race, particularly after switching to soft tires, which helped him reduce the gap to drivers ahead before the brake issue occurred.

It has been a challenging couple of days, but there were definitely some positives to take, I’ve felt good in the car all weekend, and we had a strong final third of the race. The softs gave us great attacking pace and meant I could close down a big gap to the cars ahead. But unfortunately, a brake issue cost us the overtake and the chance to score more points.
Lewis Hamilton said, as reported by RacingNews365.

Looking Forward: Hamilton’s Focus Beyond the 2025 Season

With only six races left in the 2025 season, Hamilton has already been eliminated from championship contention, shifting his attention to maximizing points in the remaining events. More importantly, he is setting his sights on the 2026 season, aiming to return as a formidable contender after a difficult current campaign.

The disappointing result in Singapore underscored the technical and competitive challenges Hamilton faces as he seeks to maintain his elite status in Formula 1. His ongoing rivalry with Fernando Alonso, combined with emerging younger talents, makes the future seasons critical for both drivers in hopes of reclaiming top positions on the grid.
