Lewis Hamilton Opens Up on Ferrari Season: “An Emotional Rollercoaster”

Formula 1 icon Lewis Hamilton has described his first season with Ferrari as an emotional rollercoaster. The seven-time world champion, who joined Ferrari for the 2025 season after leaving Mercedes following 12 years, revealed mixed feelings about his experience so far while emphasizing his ongoing commitment to the team.

After Ferrari’s competitive performances in 2024, including a strong end to last season and contending for the constructorschampionship, Hamilton expected a boost in his pursuit of another title. However, the transition has been tougher than anticipated, with Hamilton struggling to unlock the full potential of his car, which remains less competitive than the dominant McLaren and trails closely behind his teammate Charles Leclerc.

Hamilton Discusses the Emotional Ups and Downs of 2025 Season

Before the recent Italian Grand Prix, Hamilton shared insights into the emotional turbulence he has faced driving for Ferrari. He acknowledged the unpredictability of the journey, explaining that while the situation has been challenging, he remains optimistic.

“It’s been an emotional roller coaster,”

Hamilton admitted.

“What can I really say? Did I expect it to be as volatile in terms of the feeling? No, but that’s life.”

He expressed hope despite setbacks like the difficult race at the Dutch Grand Prix, stating,

“And I’d like to think that we’re coming, even though we had a difficult Sunday [at the Dutch GP], we’re coming towards the brighter end of the tunnel.”

Hamilton also emphasized focusing on the present, quoting a phrase he read recently:

“there’s no point stressing about tomorrow because it often puts shade on the present.”

He added,

“So I’m really trying not to worry about tomorrow. I’m really trying to be present and enjoy every moment because, you know, this half of the season has gone by really quick.”

Appreciating Important Milestones While Facing Difficulties

Despite the ups and downs, Hamilton remains determined to cherish every meaningful moment throughout the season. His first race in Ferrari red at Monza stood out as a poignant experience for the British driver, surrounded by the passionate support of the Tifosi.

“There’s obviously a long way to go. But I don’t want to miss any of these special moments that we’re having,”

Hamilton reflected. He recalled his childhood memories, saying,

“I just really reflect on when I was a kid watching Michael Schumacher winning here and now I get to have that opportunity, that experience of being on the receiving end of the Tifosi.”

Hamilton finished sixth at Monza, marking a return to points after a disappointing DNF at the Netherlands and a 12th place in Hungary before the summer break.

Looking Ahead to Upcoming Challenges in Azerbaijan

With the season still unfolding, Hamilton and Ferrari face fresh challenges on the streets of Baku for the Azerbaijan Grand Prix. The unpredictable nature of this partnership means the emotional rollercoaster is far from over, but Hamilton’s cautious optimism signals his willingness to embrace the journey despite its difficulties. As Ferrari continues to develop its campaign, fans will be watching closely to see if Hamilton can transform frustrations into success in the months ahead.
