Lewis Hamilton to Bring Beloved Bulldog Roscoe Back to Silverstone Paddock at 2025 British GP

Seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton has confirmed that his beloved bulldog, Roscoe, will be returning to the Silverstone paddock during the 2025 British Grand Prix. Following a serious illness earlier this year, Roscoe has now made a full recovery and will be by Hamilton’s side at the home race scheduled for July 4-6, 2025.

Hamilton’s affection for his dogs has long been known, especially for Roscoe and his late bulldog Coco. While Coco passed away several years ago, Roscoe remains a close companion to the 40-year-old driver. This year presented a challenge when Roscoe contracted pneumonia, requiring dedicated care while Hamilton focused on the demanding Formula 1 season.

Roscoe’s Health Challenges and Recovery

Earlier in 2025, Roscoe faced a critical health scare after being diagnosed with pneumonia. Recognizing the severity, Hamilton arranged for a caretaker to look after Roscoe during the intense racing calendar. Speaking about Roscoe’s condition in May, Hamilton revealed the emotional toll the situation took on him as a pet owner.

“He’s 12 and a half years old, so he’s an old boy. He had pneumonia, but he’s fine now. But this is a time where every time I get a text message from the lady who’s looking after him, my heart stops for a second. You know, what’s next?”

“I really want to try and bring him to Silverstone, and particularly to Monza, this year. Get him a red cape. It’s unusual for a bulldog to be as old as he is. I was with him before Miami, and he still wants to play. Still got that kind of youthful spirit. He does like to sleep a lot.”

Thanks to the care and treatment he received, Roscoe has regained his strength and is now well enough to travel and attend the 2025 British GP. Hamilton looks forward to welcoming his loyal companion back to the paddock, where he has become a familiar and cherished presence for fans and team members alike.

Significance of the 2025 British Grand Prix for Hamilton

The 2025 British Grand Prix holds special meaning for Hamilton, as it marks his first home race competing with Scuderia Ferrari. Last year, he celebrated a triumphant victory at Silverstone, ending a two-year winless streak. However, this season has proved challenging as Hamilton adjusts to his new team and car.

Ferrari introduced some upgrades at the Austrian Grand Prix, including a floor enhancement, but the rear suspension update has been postponed and is now expected at the upcoming Spa race. For Silverstone, Hamilton will have to rely on the same car package that helped him secure fourth place in Austria.

Looking Ahead: Hamilton’s Home Race Weekend

The British GP weekend will begin on Friday, July 4, with free practice sessions, followed by qualifying on Saturday, and the main race on Sunday, July 6. Hamilton’s decision to bring Roscoe to Silverstone highlights the emotional support his pet provides amid the pressures of racing at the highest level.

With Roscoe’s health restored and the home crowd ready to cheer for Ferrari’s new driver, the 2025 British Grand Prix promises to be a memorable event for Hamilton, both on and off the track. The presence of his faithful bulldog adds a personal touch to this important chapter in his career.
