HRC MotoGP rider Luca Marini, who suffered multiple injuries in a testing accident ahead of the Suzuka 8 Hours, is expected to be well enough to return to Italy within ten days. This update on Luca Marini recovery update and return timeline was provided by Marini’s father, Massimo Marini, confirming that his son has been moved out of intensive care.
Report on Marini’s Medical Progress and Expected Return
Massimo Marini shared details about Luca’s condition following a severe crash during testing, stating that his son’s overall health is improving quickly. Though Marini’s voice sounded tired during a recent phone call, his father emphasized the positive trend in his clinical recovery and the significant milestone of leaving intensive care.
Within ten days, or maybe even sooner, he could return to Italy. Of course, he is being followed step by step by Honda.

Extent of Injuries and Recovery Outlook
On the second day of testing, Marini experienced a serious accident that resulted in a dislocated left hip, ligament injuries to his left knee, fractures to his sternum and left collarbone, and a right-side pneumothorax, or collapsed lung. While initially there were concerns about the knee ligaments, recent scans have shown encouraging results.
Another positive thing is that the CT scan ruled out any problems with the knee ligaments,
Massimo Marini said.
So an operation is not necessary; with a period of physiotherapy he will be able to get back on his feet.

Impact on Marini’s Racing Season
Before the accident, Luca Marini was the only MotoGP rider to have earned points in every Grand Prix this season, despite a demotion from eighth to 15th place at Silverstone due to a tire pressure violation. His streak, which included a top-eight finish in COTA, will now pause as he misses the upcoming race at Aragon.
Marini’s absence will be felt on the grid, but his steady recovery offers hope for his eventual return to racing and competition continuity.
