Ducati Warns of Rising MotoGP Threats Despite Marc Marquez’s Unmatched Supremacy in 2025 Season

Ducati general manager Gigi Dall’Igna has highlighted the growing challenges posed by MotoGP competitors, even as Marc Marquez demonstrates extraordinary dominance in the 2025 season. With Ducati currently leading both the riders’ and manufacturers’ championships, the Italian team appears poised for another commanding title run.

After 12 rounds and the summer break, Ducati riders have secured victory in 10 races along with every sprint event, leaving rivals trailing significantly in points. Marc Marquez recently claimed his fifth consecutive sprint and grand prix double at the Czech Grand Prix, extending his lead in the championship to 120 points and reaching eight wins this year.

Gigi Dall’Igna Applauds Marc Marquez’s Exceptional Performance

Dall’Igna praised Marquez, emphasizing the rider’s continuous ambition and careful racecraft. He described Marquez’s remarkable form:

“Eighth win of the season out of 12 races, 70th in [his career], fifth sprint/GP double in a row, Marc is the first Ducati rider to achieve these heights, having won all but one of the Saturday sprint races,”

highlighting the unmatched success Marquez has brought to the team.

The Ducati chief explained that Marquez’s dominance is more than just a series of victories; it reflects an exceptional harmony between rider and machine. Marquez’s ability to manage varying race conditions and strategies—whether taking control from the start to the finish, as seen in Germany, or pacing himself early before pushing hard mid-race, like at Brno—demonstrates his intelligent and adaptable approach.

Dall’Igna further elaborated on Marquez’s skill set:

“He optimises every circumstance, whether in dry or wet conditions, at the crucial moments bringing out the best from the bike and from himself, combining savvy and instinct, modulating the experience of a champion and the inexhaustible craving for victory: yes, a champion who, precisely for being one, shows humility in the awareness he has of needing to still grow and improve.”

Rising Competition Challenges Ducati’s Dominance

Despite Marquez’s and Ducati’s stronghold on the season so far, Dall’Igna issued a warning about the rising competitiveness of other teams. After the Czech Grand Prix, where Aprilia and KTM joined Marquez on the podium, the gap between the leaders and challengers is narrowing in intensity if not yet in points.

With the season now at its halfway mark, the riders and teams are heading into a break to recharge. This pause offers time to restore mental focus ahead of what promises to be an increasingly demanding second half of the championship.

Dall’Igna remarked on the evolving nature of the competition:

“Energy to be eventually pitched back on the track against opponents that are becoming increasingly insidious and fearsome, something that is no longer ‘breaking news’.”

This acknowledgement underscores the realistic expectation that Ducati’s rivals, including Aprilia and KTM, will continue to push aggressively, challenging Marquez and his quest for further supremacy in the 2025 MotoGP season.
