NASCAR ARCA Team’s Heartbreaking Update After Devastating Accident Threatens Season Plans

Clubb Racing Inc., a NASCAR ARCA team, revealed significant damage to their No. 3 car’s equipment following a serious accident after the ARCA Menards Series race at Iowa Speedway. The team’s owner and driver, Alex Clubb, described the incident as a “really bad night” but confirmed that no injuries occurred despite the extensive damage to their equipment.

The accident occurred on Interstate 80 during the return trip from Friday night’s ARCA event. The crash took place roughly 78 minutes before the team reached their home base in Morris, Illinois, where Clubb Racing Inc. operates.

“Really bad night coming home along I80 in Illinois. Thankfully everyone involved is ok. Unfortunately, most if not all of our equipment for the #03 is destroyed,” Clubb Racing Inc wrote.

Background on Alex Clubb and Team Progress in the ARCA Series

Alex Clubb, who started competing in the ARCA series in 2015, has been racing and managing the No. 03 car for Clubb Racing Inc. since the 2022 season. In last year’s season, he achieved his best overall finish of ninth in the standings and earned a top-10 finish at Daytona, representing his family-owned team. During the Iowa event, Clubb finished in 20th place driving the No. 03 Ford car.

This raceweek also marked the debut of series rookie Colby Evans, a 24-year-old native of Iowa who recently joined Clubb Racing Inc. to run the No. 86 car. Evans, who has previous experience working as a crew member in ARCA and NASCAR, finished 23rd in his first race.

Details of the Crash: Trailer Overturned and Multiple Collisions Involved

In an interview with Frontstretch, Alex Clubb explained that the accident was caused when a friend driving the team’s trailer fell asleep at the wheel. The trailer, carrying spare parts and the racecar, struck the highway median and flipped over. Following this, several semi trucks collided with the overturned trailer, compounding the damage.

“My buddy fell asleep driving it [the trailer]. He hit the median, flipped it, then about five semis kept hitting us. We’re now down one trailer, one truck and one racecar,” Clubb said.

Uncertainty Looms Over Team’s Future Race Participation

The destruction of the trailer, tow truck, and primary racecar jeopardizes Clubb Racing Inc.’s ability to compete in upcoming events. Alex Clubb expressed uncertainty about the team’s participation in the NASCAR ARCA race scheduled next week at Watkins Glen International, underscoring the severity of the loss and the challenge ahead.
