Denny Hamlin claimed the 200th NASCAR Cup Series win for Toyota Sunday afternoon by triumphing at the Enjoy Illinois 300, held at World Wide Technology Raceway at Gateway. This milestone adds another chapter to Toyota’s growing legacy in the Cup Series, securing an important NASCAR Cup Series Toyota milestone.
Building on Toyota’s Legacy with Joe Gibbs Racing
This victory marked the 166th NASCAR Cup Series win for Joe Gibbs Racing as part of Toyota’s tally. Kyle Busch earned Toyota’s first Cup Series win in March 2008 at EchoPark Speedway, formerly Atlanta Motor Speedway, piloting the No. 18 Toyota for JGR. He also registered Toyota’s 100th Cup victory at Pocono Raceway in July 2017, underscoring Toyota’s steady rise in NASCAR competition.
Hamlin’s Consistent Presence in Toyota’s Success
Throughout his career, Hamlin has been closely linked to Toyota’s achievements, driving a Toyota Camry in nearly all his 713 Cup Series starts, including his recent performance at Gateway. With this win, Hamlin now shares the record for most Toyota victories in the Cup Series—56—with Kyle Busch. The driver recognizes the weight of such milestones in his career.
“I’ve been part of some great milestones for Toyota,”
Hamlin reflected.
I was … part of the 600th win for Toyota across the three national series at Pocono in 2023. Milestone wins like that, they’re special because you always have the souvenirs and the hats that are always laying around that reminds you of that day and the significance of it. It’s a big, big deal.
