Pedro Acosta’s Shocking Struggle at Japanese GP Stuns Fans

The 2025 Japanese Grand Prix delivered a surprising and disappointing result for Pedro Acosta as the young KTM rider encountered a severe setback. After an impressive performance in Japan the previous year, Acosta’s race ended abruptly in the gravel at the first corner, resulting in a disappointing 17th place finish and marking his lowest ranking in the MotoGP season so far. The difficulties he faced at this event have raised concerns among fans and analysts eager to see if he can recover.

The Unfolding of a Race Gone Wrong

Pedro Acosta described the critical moment as feeling similar to a motocross accident.

“I went wide, that’s all there is to it,”

he admitted candidly regarding the mishap. Despite starting the race well, he quickly found himself overwhelmed by circumstances he couldn’t completely understand or control.

“We didn’t manage to get out of the situation or even understand why it happened. We need to analyze everything with the factory and the team to figure out what went wrong. It seems like all KTMs were caught in the same trap,”

Acosta explained, highlighting a collective challenge faced by KTM riders during the race.

Struggles with Traction and Pace Throughout the Race

Acosta revealed how helpless he felt while riding, as if restrained.

“I felt like I was handcuffed; I couldn’t do anything. Everything I could do before, I couldn’t anymore. The brakes worked fine, to be honest, but I was stuck without any traction. Mir passed me first on lap seven, then Bezzecchi overtook me as if I was standing still, followed by Álex who attacked like I was parked. It wasn’t just me—it was all four KTMs. I think it was more visible for me because I was further ahead,”

he detailed the battle that unfolded on the track, emphasizing that the performance issues were not limited to him alone.

Respect and Admiration for Marc Marquez’s Remarkable Comeback

Amid his own challenges, Acosta took time to praise Marc Marquez’s determined return to racing after struggles of his own.

“That was one of the most brutal returns in sports history, right? I was moved watching the video they showed him. Congratulations to him and everyone around him because they all suffered as much as he did,”

he said, acknowledging the resilience displayed by Marquez and his team.

What Awaits Pedro Acosta Beyond Japan?

Following this difficult chapter at the Japanese GP, many are watching closely to see if Pedro Acosta can regain his prior form at the upcoming Indonesian GP, a circuit where he has previously excelled. The question remains whether this setback is a temporary hurdle or the beginning of a more prolonged struggle for the young Spaniard. The upcoming races will be critical in defining his trajectory and ability to fight back on the world stage.
