Jack Miller and Miguel Oliveira are enduring a prolonged wait for a final decision on who will secure the Pramac Yamaha 2027 MotoGP seat for the upcoming season. The uncertainty follows the earlier announcement of Toprak Razgatlioglu joining the satellite team, confirming that only one of the current riders will retain their place.
Razgatlioglu’s Arrival Forces Team to Choose Between Riders
With Toprak Razgatlioglu confirmed in June as a rider for Pramac Yamaha in 2027, it has become apparent that Miller and Oliveira are competing for the single remaining slot. This situation has placed significant pressure on the team to finalize their decision, knowing one of these established riders will have to seek a new opportunity elsewhere for next season.
Miller’s Growing Frustration Over Decision Delays
Jack Miller initially claimed not to feel stressed about the rivalry with his teammate, but as weeks passed without a call, his patience has started to wear thin. Before the Austrian Grand Prix weekend, Miller shared that the expected timing for the announcement has been repeatedly postponed.
First it was before the summer break, then it was after the summer break, and it’s slowly getting delayed a little more, so… Why are we delaying it, I don’t know. But hopefully something comes out soon,
he said.

[I’ve been] trying to make conversations, trying to make contact, trying to understand what my situation is at the moment. Still nothing on the table… just waiting. [I’ll play] the waiting game; hang around.
Miller expressed his strong attachment to the Yamaha project and appreciation for the team environment, adding that he remains motivated to improve and contribute further.
I want to be here, I want to be with Yamaha. I love this project, I love working with Yamaha and I enjoy the whole environment. I love my crew chief. I’m very, very happy where I am. I feel like I can go further, improve and do more.
He emphasized his ongoing efforts to demonstrate value to the team and his willingness to adapt, even as he faces the frustration of uncertainty. Miller also acknowledged that other potential options outside Pramac Yamaha are beginning to close off.
Obviously, other opportunities are starting to close up.
Oliveira Remains Focused Amid Contract Ambiguity
Meanwhile, Miguel Oliveira has taken a more measured approach during the summer break, choosing not to chase updates about his future. The Portuguese rider continues to concentrate on improving his performance on track, particularly focusing on areas where he feels he can gain time.
We didn’t talk, Oliveira said, noting that he hopes the decision will materialize soon. When we know something, you [the press] will also know. He added that the team aims to finalize the decision within the next two races.
Oliveira outlined his priorities clearly, emphasizing a commitment to enhancing his competitiveness rather than obsessing over contract status.
My main target is to continue doing the best I can for me, firstly, and then try to bring some good results in these couple of races. And put myself in the best possible position to be competitive.
His current focus is on addressing his bike’s braking performance, which he identified as the primary weakness affecting his race pace. Despite some initial progress, Oliveira admitted that setbacks at the Sachsenring and Brno circuits have hampered his momentum.
Braking is the area where I lose time and I want to get that fixed. Performance and results will come as a consequence of that.
Implications of the Extended Decision Timeline for Both Riders
The ongoing delay in determining the fate of the Pramac Yamaha 2027 MotoGP seat leaves both riders in a state of uncertainty that affects their career planning and mental readiness. While Miller outwardly expresses eagerness to resolve the situation, Oliveira’s focus remains firmly on his immediate racing challenges.
Given that the decision is anticipated after a couple more events, both riders will need to maintain focus despite the looming contractual ambiguity. Their performances in the coming races could ultimately influence the team’s final choice, underscoring the high-stakes nature of this wait.
The team’s final call will not only define Miller’s and Oliveira’s future trajectories but will also shape the Pramac Yamaha line-up as they prepare for the 2027 MotoGP season with Toprak Razgatlioglu already confirmed.
