Robert Shwartzman Shuts Down False Rumors About His IndyCar Career

Robert Shwartzman, the 25-year-old driver from Prema Racing, recently completed his rookie season in IndyCar, finishing 24th in the championship and narrowly missing out on Rookie of the Year to Louis Foster. Throughout the season, Shwartzman managed two top ten results, with his best being ninth place at Iowa Speedway. Despite a challenging season, the IsraeliRussian racer made headlines by securing a surprise pole position at the 109th Indianapolis 500, becoming the first rookie in 42 years to claim pole for this marquee event.

This week, Shwartzman spoke out to refute rumors suggesting dissatisfaction with his career path. Having previously been an F1 reserve driver and a successful contender in Formula 3 and Formula 2, Shwartzman transitioned to IndyCar after a stint in the World Endurance Championship, where he drove a Ferrari 499P Hypercar.

Shwartzman’s Firm Rejection of Misleading Reports

In a public statement, Shwartzman directly addressed the speculation about his attitude towards racing in IndyCar. He expressed frustration over the false narratives and emphasized his enthusiasm for the series and its competitive environment.

“I want to take a moment to address something that’s been circulating recently,”

he said.

“I keep seeing comments and have received messages suggesting that I’m unhappy in IndyCar, or that I don’t enjoy racing here. Let me be absolutely clear: I have never said that, and I’ve never even thought it. These rumors come from speculation, and not only is it inaccurate, it’s damaging and frankly offensive. The truth is the complete opposite! I am very happy to be racing in IndyCar. I love the series, the competition, the atmosphere, the variety of the circuits; the fans are passionate and the paddock is very welcoming.”
