Ryan Blaney Mocks Bubba Wallace’s UFL Field Goal Fiasco: “Definitely Not Impressive!”

Talladega Superspeedway is Ryan Blaney’s best track, where the Team Penske driver has achieved victory three times in 21 NASCAR Cup Series races. Meanwhile, Bubba Wallace is no stranger to this iconic 2.66-mile circuit, having celebrated his inaugural Cup win there in 2021. Both drivers are set to compete for their first wins of the 2025 season at this superspeedway.

During Fox’s pre-race show, viewers discovered that Blaney and Wallace had been in town since Friday, but their time wasn’t solely spent at the racetrack. The two friends took a less-than-an-hour trip west to Birmingham to catch some UFL action. Accompanied by Ricky Person and commentator Mamba Smith, they ventured to the game to enjoy a different kind of competition.

In a segment with Fox’s Jamie Little, Blaney spoke about their trip, while the broadcast captured both drivers attempting 20-yard field goals. Blaney succeeded, while Wallace’s attempt fell far short. “Yeah, watched the Stallions play,” Blaney remarked. “It was my first UFL game. So I appreciate it.” Little then noted Blaney’s successful kick, which sailed through the uprights.

Blaney acknowledged the simplicity of a 20-yard field goal, stating, “I know it’s not impressive.” As footage shifted to Wallace’s attempt, which barely made it off the ground, he added, “And that’s definitely not impressive by Darrell. If we were talking athletes over here, I think that just is the sealed deal.”

This friendly rivalry highlights an ongoing debate regarding NASCAR drivers’ athleticism. Blaney’s performance in Birmingham, coupled with his candid commentary about Bubba Wallace’s field goal failure, amplifies the discussion. As they prepare to return to the track, fans are eager to see how this playful banter translates into competition on the famed asphalt of Talladega.
