Ryan Blaney recently provided an emotional update on his wife Gianna Tulio’s pregnancy, revealing how she is now able to appreciate the experience after enduring a difficult beginning. Earlier in July, Gianna shared on the Believe in Good podcast that she had encountered serious complications requiring weekly intravenous treatments to manage her condition.
I can’t keep down my prenatals, so I have to get all my vitamins through an IV bag,
Gianna said, describing the severity of her symptoms. She also credited acupuncture for helping her conceive, relying on alternative Eastern medicine during the toughest moments of her journey.
Turning a Corner After Months of Hardship
Ryan Blaney described how Gianna has overcome the toughest part of her pregnancy. The #12 Team Penske driver reflected on her long struggle at the start.
Seeing like Gianna just go through it and like struggled really hard in the beginning, like being super sick for a long time and then like and hated it, right?
he explained.
Like this sucks. Like, I literally am sick all day, every day for months. And now, the last couple months, she’s gotten over that. And it’s gotten to a point where she’s really enjoying it now,
he added, highlighting the shift from suffering to joy. Gianna has started embracing the changes in her body and cherishing the connection growing with their baby.
Ultrasounds and Fatherhood Excitement
For Ryan, some of the most thrilling moments have come during ultrasounds. When asked by Dale Earnhardt Jr. about the most memorable experience in the pregnancy so far, Blaney had a clear answer.
Going to an ultrasound is pretty cool. We probably go get an ultrasound once a month just to see in person the growth, and like for sure seeing that every month you’re like, ‘Oh my god.’ I mean, and we’re right at like two months out right now, so he’s pretty big. He’s the size of a piglet.
Dale Jr. also inquired about feeling their baby move. Though Blaney has not yet seen the baby’s kicks through Gianna’s belly, he confirmed with a smile, Yeah, I can feel it. Additionally, preparing their son’s nursery has become a source of joy for the couple as they anticipate their child’s arrival.
Planning and Support Amid the NASCAR Season
Married in December 2024, Ryan and Gianna coordinated the pregnancy with NASCAR’s offseason to better manage their schedules. This timing has allowed Blaney to focus on his preparations for another Cup season while also supporting his wife. With encouragement from close friends such as Bubba Wallace, the couple is eagerly awaiting the arrival of their first child and looking forward to embarking on this new chapter together.
