Tony Stewart Dodge Family Update: Wife Leah Pruett Shares Adorable Son Sporting Iconic Muscle Car Merch

During the Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals in Ohio, Tony Stewart‘s wife, Leah Pruett, shared a heartwarming update featuring their son, Dominic James, dressed in a Dodge-themed onesie. The scene captured the toddler wearing hearing protection as high-powered dragsters thundered down the track, highlighting a proud moment for the Tony Stewart Dodge family update.

Tony Stewart, a three-time NASCAR Cup Series champion, now competes in the National Hot Rod Association’s Top Fuel division. His team, TSR Nitro, partners closely with Dodge, the Michigan-based automaker planning a future return to NASCAR as a fourth original equipment manufacturer. Leah Pruett’s social media post proudly displayed their son in merchandise that nods to Dodge’s muscle car legacy.

One of the standout details of the onesie was the playful message,

“There’s Dodge muscle under these rolls?”

emphasizing both the family’s enthusiasm and the brand’s iconic status in motorsports.

Dominic James was born in November 2024 during the NHRA season finale at California’s Pomona Dragstrip. Tony Stewart had to briefly leave the racing event after qualifying on Saturday to greet his newborn son before returning to compete in the race the next day. Leah Pruett, originally the Top Fuel driver for TSR Nitro, stepped away from racing to dedicate time to their growing family, prompting Stewart to take over driving responsibilities for the 2024 season, where he earned Rookie of the Year honors.

Stewart has publicly expressed his commitment to aid Dodge’s return to NASCAR stock car racing. However, he has clarified that he does not intend to own a NASCAR team again following the recent departure of Stewart-Haas Racing from the series last year.

Leah Pruett’s Return Behind the Wheel After Maternity Leave

Last week, Leah Pruett tested Tony Stewart’s TSR Nitro Dodge dragster at Virginia Motorsports Park, marking her first time driving a Top Fuel car since taking maternity leave. After 499 days away from the seat, she posted about the experience on social media, describing how exhilarating it felt to get back into racing despite challenging conditions.

“499 days. That’s how long it had been since I last wheeled a Top Fueler — until Monday. And trust me… I didn’t care that we were testing in some of the nastiest conditions ever (98.6º ambient, 146º on the track). After 499 days out of the seat… it felt incredibly good to knock the rust off.” —Leah Pruett, Driver

During the test, Pruett customized the seat inserts to fit her perfectly and completed three solid runs. She expressed confidence that she can successfully balance her roles as both a racer and a mother.

“We got in 3 good hits in, checked off key items from our parts test list, and left @racevmp (Virginia Motorsports Park) with self-assurance that ‘racer Leah’ can absolutely co-exist with ‘mamma Leah.’” —Leah Pruett, Driver

Although Pruett has not announced a specific timeline for resuming full-time competition in NHRA’s Top Fuel category, the successful test signals progress toward her return. Tony Stewart has also indicated he would readily step aside whenever Leah feels ready to take back the driver’s seat.
