Tymek Kucharczyk Set for Bold INDY NXT Debut in 2026

In 2026, Polish driver Tymek Kucharczyk will make his INDY NXT by Firestone debut with HMD Motorsports, marking his first time competing in American motorsport. Kucharczyk’s entry into the series positions him as the first Polish competitor in this prominent INDYCAR development league.

Strong Racing Background Paves the Way for INDY NXT

At 19 years old, Kucharczyk comes off a commanding 2025 season where he secured the Euroformula Open Championship with BVM Racing. His preparation for moving into the INDY NXT series included participating in the Chris Griffis Memorial Test at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway’s road course last October, as well as competing in the 2025 Macau Grand Prix within the FIA Formula Regional World Cup with Van Amersfoort Racing.

Early Career Achievements Highlight Rising Talent

Kucharczyk’s racing journey began at just five years old in karting, where he quickly stood out. His early formula racing success features a third-place finish in the 2022 F4 Spanish Championship, where he earned one victory and 12 podiums. Advancing to the GB3 Championship for two seasons, he demonstrated steady progress with four wins, three pole positions, and a third-place championship finish.

Support and Ambition Fuel Kucharczyk’s American Racing Venture

I am grateful for the opportunity to join HMD Motorsports,

Kucharczyk said.

Making the move to the American racing scene feels like the right next step, and the test I did with the team was really positive. I feel confident in what we can achieve together.

He also expressed appreciation by stating,

Thank you to my main sponsor, Mubi.pl, and my supporting partners, ORLEN Motorsport Academy and Iteo, as well as to HMD for their trust and support. I am committed to giving everything I have this year.

HMD Motorsports Confident in Kucharczyk’s INDY NXT Potential

Mike Maurini, President of HMD Motorsports, highlighted Kucharczyk’s promise by saying,

Tymek has shown tremendous potential throughout his career,

and added,

We are excited to help guide his development in the United States and see what we can accomplish together. The 2026 season will undoubtedly feature a strong lineup throughout the series, and we believe Tymek will be a valuable addition to it as he fights for race wins, podium results, Rookie of the Year honors and, ultimately, the INDY NXT championship.

Upcoming Tests and the Road Ahead to 2026 Season

To further prepare for his upcoming campaign, Kucharczyk will participate in official INDY NXT tests scheduled next week at Sebring International Raceway and later in February at the Formula 1 Miami circuit. He is set to make his competitive debut on March 1, 2026, at the season opening race held on the city streets of St. Petersburg, Florida.
