Valentino Rossi, the celebrated MotoGP legend, has been making waves since his retirement from the sport at the end of 2021. He is carving a niche in car racing, consistently ascending the ranks with a committed full-time career. In a remarkable feat, last year Rossi advanced to the World Endurance Championship (WEC) and took up the role of factory driver for BMW, a position he continues to hold this year. His car racing journey has already seen him participate in the prestigious 24 Hours of Le Mans, and he is slated to return to France next June.
Now, Rossi sets his sights on yet another legendary challenge: the Nordschleife, popularly known as the “Green Hell.” In a candid interview with Motorsport.com, he expressed his desire to face this daunting track: “Yes, it’s a goal, although it’s difficult now because you need a licence, but we’ll try in the future.” This ambition underscores Rossi’s determination to further his car racing credentials.
Presently, Rossi focuses on the WEC in the LMGT3 category, where he competes alongside teammates Ahmad Al Harthy and Kelvin van der Linde, driving a BMW M4 for Team WRT. Though Rossi has future aspirations for the top category, he acknowledges the challenges due to the limited spots available: “It’s difficult, because the team has two cars and already several drivers, so it’s not easy to organise. Anyway, we will try.”
Rossi’s foray into car racing emphasizes his passion and commitment to pursuing new horizons. His transition from bike to car exemplifies persistence and adaptability, captivating fans and racing enthusiasts eager to witness his continued growth and success on the track.
