Will Power Joins Andretti for 2026 IndyCar Season Shakeup

Will Power will compete for Andretti Global in the NTT IndyCar Series beginning with the 2026 season, the team announced on September 3. After 17 years with Team Penske, Power will take over the No. 26 Andretti Honda, marking a significant shift in his racing career.

Colton Herta Moves to Cadillac F1 Team as Test Driver

Power replaces Colton Herta, who will switch to a role as a test driver for the Cadillac F1 Team in 2026. Herta’s move to Formula 1 will open the door for Power’s arrival at Andretti.

Will Power Expresses Enthusiasm for New Opportunity

“I just want to say how excited I am to be joining Andretti Global,”

Power said in a team statement. He expressed gratitude toward team leaders Dan Towriss and Jill Gregory for the opportunity, highlighting his admiration for Herta and stating his commitment to the No. 26 team.

Power added that he is eager to work with the Andretti crew and Honda’s HRC team, recognizing their competitive reputation. He also looked forward to collaborating with teammates Kyle Kirkwood and Marcus Ericsson, recalling previous intense races with both drivers.

“Also, I have tremendous respect for Kyle [Kirkwood] and Marcus [Ericsson]. I’ve had some great battles racing against them, and I think we’re going to make a great combination as teammates. This is a whole new chapter for me. I have to say that sometimes a change of scenery and a fresh start is very energizing. I can’t wait.”

Andretti Global Welcomes a Champion

Jill Gregory, COO of Andretti Global, warmly welcomed Power to the team, thanking Colton Herta for his contributions and wishing him success in his new F1 role. Gregory praised Power as a proven competitor with a strong personality, confident he will fit well within the team culture and lead the No. 26 Honda effectively.

“First, I want to thank Colton Herta for all the great memories and success he brought to Andretti Global during his time with the team,”

Gregory said.

“We’re incredibly proud of him and wish him the best in his new F1 journey. We couldn’t think of a better driver than Will Power to fill Colton’s shoes here at Andretti and take the wheel of the No. 26 Honda. Will is a fierce competitor whose record speaks for itself. Additionally, he’s a great personality and we feel he’ll be a strong fit for the team culturally as well.”

Recent Performance and Future Outlook

In his final season with Team Penske, Power earned one race victory along with six top-five and eight top-10 finishes, concluding the year ninth in the standings. His experience and proven track record signal a promising future at Andretti as they prepare for the 2026 season.

This transition marks a dynamic change in the IndyCar landscape, bringing fresh energy as Power joins new teammates and partners with Honda’s competitive program. Fans and the racing community alike will be watching closely as this new chapter unfolds.
