Will Power Set for Long-Awaited Daytona 24 Debut in 2026

Will Power is poised to make his long-anticipated Will Power Daytona 24 debut at the 2026 Rolex 24 at Daytona, joining the 75 Express team in the GTD Pro class with Mercedes-AMG. The celebrated Australian driver will share driving duties with Kenny Habul, Maro Engel, and Chaz Mostert, marking a major new chapter in his racing career at the iconic Florida event.

Power Joins 75 Express for Rolex 24 After Previous Setback

Will Power, a two-time IndyCar champion and 2018 Indy 500 winner, was originally scheduled to debut at the Rolex 24 in 2023. However, just ten days before the race, he withdrew when his wife, Liz, experienced medical issues following surgery. Power chose to prioritize his family, supporting Liz during her recovery, and postponed his Daytona goal.

“a couple of complications after surgery”

Now, Power is confirmed to make his GT endurance racing debut at Daytona in 2026, piloting the No. 75 Mercedes-AMG GT3 EVO for 75 Express—the team owned by his friend and fellow Australian, Kenny Habul. Power’s teammates will also include Maro Engel, a GT racing standout, and 2025 Supercars champion Chaz Mostert. This move reunites Power and Habul, who first raced together in Formula Ford more than two decades ago.

Return to Endurance Racing After Long Hiatus

The journey to the 2026 Rolex 24 began in 2023, when Power joined the 75 Express roster at the Indy 8-Hour, an Intercontinental GT Challenge event held at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. It was Power’s return to Sports Car racing after more than 20 years away, with his last endurance start dating back to the 2003 Bathurst 24 Hour in a Porsche 996. The team earned a sixth-place finish at Indy, securing Kenny Habul his fifth Independent Cup crown in the series.

“I loved it. I wish I had more time in the car. If it wasn’t for the rain, I would have had a few more stints. I thought it was fantastic racing. It was really cool to learn a different discipline. It’s definitely a different way to drive, and these guys taught me a ton. I’m looking forward to coming back if Kenny would have me. I would definitely do more of this stuff.”

After that impressive run, Power continued his collaboration with 75 Express in November, participating in a three-day IMSA-sanctioned test at Daytona International Speedway. This experience laid the groundwork for the team’s commitment to the 2026 Daytona race.

Adapting to a New Racing Discipline at Daytona

Power’s first opportunity to drive the No. 75 Mercedes-AMG GT3 at Daytona came during the November IMSA test. Freshly signed to Andretti Global for 2026 after leaving Team Penske, Power found the move opened up his off-season, giving him a chance to embrace a new form of racing. Though he had previously expressed some nervousness about the demands and dangers of Daytona, the test increased his confidence and excitement about the renowned race ahead.

“I like the GT car,” the 2018 Indy 500 winner said. “It’s a new driving style. It’s not the most crazy track, as far as technicality, but it’s an epic race, it’s cool. This is something I’ve wanted to do for a long time… so that’s why I’m doing it. Yeah, I’m gonna do it. That’s the plan.”

Through adapting to GT driving, Power gained valuable experience and insight from his new teammates and through the close-knit collaboration with 75 Express. The test not only sharpened his technical skills but also deepened the bonds with his long-time friend and team boss, Kenny Habul.

A Celebration of Camaraderie and a New Era for Power

The friendship between Power and Habul is central to his latest racing adventure. The pair’s relationship traces back over 25 years to when they competed against each other as young drivers in Formula Ford. Power reflected on their shared journey and how their dream of racing together at Daytona can finally become a reality.

“Kenny and I have known each other for 25-plus years. “We raced against each other back in ’99 in Formula Ford. I think there’s a picture of us on the podium at the Gold Coast Indy race. We’ve been meaning to do this for a long time.”

This partnership comes as Power transitions to Andretti Global for the 2026 IndyCar season, ending his long-standing relationship with Team Penske due to contractual issues. He will drive the No. 26 Andretti Global Honda as he steps into an exciting phase of his career, both in single-seaters and now in sports car racing.

Looking Ahead to Daytona and Beyond

With preparations now underway, Will Power’s long-awaited Will Power Daytona 24 debut will bring together seasoned GT racers, a champion Supercars driver, and enduring friendships. His participation is likely to draw immense interest from fans of both IndyCar and endurance racing, while representing an inspiring return and reinvention for one of motorsport’s most versatile talents. As anticipation builds for January 2026, all eyes will be on Power and 75 Express when they take the green flag at the legendary Daytona International Speedway.
