Zane Smith Battles Back for Strong Finish at Darlington Raceway

Zane Smith delivered an impressive recovery at Darlington Raceway, finishing 14th after earlier setbacks in the race. His strong showing at this event, following challenges at Daytona, highlighted both his determination and the team’s effort. Smith acknowledged the hard-fought nature of the race and praised the team’s preparation, aiming to carry this momentum into upcoming competitions.

Race Progress and Final Results for Key Drivers

Throughout the event, Smith steadily improved after early struggles, moving up from 31st to 24th before concluding in 14th place. Noah Gragson also recorded a consistent performance, beginning the race at 22nd in Stage One and climbing to 14th in Stage Two, ultimately finishing 14th as well. Todd Gilliland, however, faced greater difficulties, finishing 26th after being trapped a lap down during the race.

Drivers Reflect on Their Day at Darlington

Smith reflected on his performance by stating,

“It’s nice to come away with a strong finish after what happened in Daytona. There’s no doubt we had to fight for this one, but I’m proud of the effort from Ryan (Bergenty) and the team for bringing another fast Ford. Hopefully we can take this momentum into next week and tack on another good result.”

Noah Gragson expressed satisfaction with his race, saying,

“It felt good to finally have a normal day. We just chipped away all night, kept moving forward with a solid car, solid stops, and no mistakes. At the end we just needed a little more speed to get to where we wanted, but not much. If the race was 20 laps longer, we probably come home 9th or 10th. Definitely something we can build off of.”

Todd Gilliland shared his perspective, commenting,

“Darlington was a definitely ‘Too Tough to Tame’ this time around. We got trapped a lap down and just could never get it back which made for a long night. While it wasn’t the result we wanted, we still had a great weekend with Grillo’s Pickles and the ‘Hot Pickle’ scheme on our car.”
