NASCAR Expert Labels Brad Keselowski’s 2025 Season Disappointing Amid Playoff Struggles

NASCAR analyst Bob Pockrass highlighted Brad Keselowski’s disappointing performances as the 2025 Cup Series season passes its midpoint. Keselowski, the co-owner and driver of RFK Racing’s No. 6 Ford, currently sits 28th in the playoff standings with 306 points, placing him well outside the playoff bubble and 122 points behind the cutoff without securing a win.

On the Beating and Banging podcast, Pockrass named Keselowski the season’s surprise underperformer, given expectations for his results.

“When you look at Brad Keselowski, over 100 points behind the cutoff and without a win, you just would not have said that’s where his season was going to be,” Pockrass said (06:34 onwards).

“Especially with the way Chris Buescher and Ryan Preece have been running. Now, certainly they’ve had some bad luck, but there have been some weeks where they just have not had the speed. They’ve been getting better as of late, but when you look at the totality of the first half of the year, I would say that Brad Keselowski’s results are disappointing” he added.

Keselowski has recorded four top-10 finishes so far in 2025, including two top-five results, with eight races remaining in the regular season. Since acquiring an ownership stake in Jack Roush’s team in 2022, his recent form shows improvement, posting three top-10 finishes in the last five races. Most notably, Keselowski finished second at Atlanta and fifth at the Coca-Cola 600 in Charlotte.

“Good effort, led a lot of laps. We put ourselves in a position. Every loss hurts. I don’t dwell on them. We’ll go on to next week and try to win,” Brad Keselowski said after the Atlanta race (via Yardbarker).

However, Keselowski faced challenges at Nashville and Mexico City last month, finishing 23rd and 25th, respectively, which has contributed to his struggles in the standings.

Assessing the Performance of Brad Keselowski’s RFK Racing Teammates

While Keselowski has faltered, his RFK Racing teammates have demonstrated stronger performances this season. Chris Buescher, driving the No. 17 Ford, has been a consistent force inside the playoff cutline. He has amassed ten top-10 finishes, including a podium at Michigan. Buescher also secured a 10th-place result in Mexico City and placed fourth and ninth at Pocono Raceway and EcoPark Speedway.

Ryan Preece, piloting the No. 60 Ford, recorded a career-best third place at Las Vegas in March and has added six more top-10 finishes since then. Currently ranked 14th in the NASCAR Cup points standings, Preece is positioned just below the playoff cutline, trailing Bubba Wallace by 23 points ahead of the upcoming Chicago street race.

What Keselowski’s Season Means for RFK Racing and the Playoff Picture

Brad Keselowski’s underwhelming results contrast sharply with the progress of his teammates and reflect the difficulties RFK Racing faces in securing consistent top finishes from all its drivers. With the regular season winding down, Keselowski must significantly improve his performance to rejoin the playoff conversation and make an impact in 2025.

Given Keselowski’s dual role as driver and co-owner, his results carry extra weight for the team’s overall momentum. The coming races will be vital for Keselowski as he strives to regain competitiveness and help RFK Racing solidify its presence among the top contenders.
