During the Atlanta race weekend, Carson Hocevar experienced a rollercoaster of events that culminated in a notable collision with Joey Logano. The incident, which took place around Lap 238, caused Logano’s vehicle to lose control, significantly affecting his race position. Hocevar, who started the event from 15th place and faced challenges early on, later reflected on the crash, accepting responsibility and making light of the situation by humorously stating he owes Logano a gift card.
Hocevar’s weekend began with several setbacks, including a flat tire and missing a pit entry, which led to further time lost on the track. Despite these difficulties, he managed to recover and secure a fourth-place finish, boosting his position in the championship standings by five places. The collision with Logano, a driver for Penske, saw Logano drop to 27th position momentarily before finishing 18th after a recovery effort.
Addressing the crash, Hocevar admitted,
“I turned Joey, I didn’t mean to do that. He got stuck in dirty air? It’s my racing excuses like it wasn’t my fault but it definitely was. I was just looking in the mirror the whole time and thought I calculated my gap out front. I just missed it by an inch or two and I owe him a gift card.”
Hocevar’s Resilience Leads to Strong Finish Despite Early Troubles
Although the race started poorly for Hocevar, he demonstrated resilience throughout the event, making steady progress and ultimately finishing fourth at the Autotrader 400 in Atlanta. A late restart prevented him from challenging for a higher position, as Tyler Reddick claimed his second consecutive Cup Series victory at the same track. Emphasizing the pace of his vehicle, Hocevar praised the Spire Motorsports team’s efforts in transforming the car from being two laps down to a points-scoring contender.

Reflecting on his performance, Hocevar stated,
“Our car is really fast to go from two laps down to get stage points, so then finish fourth. It’s good points for us. Yeah. I mean I was taking every run. I don’t know, I’m sure, apologies, but I think we’re all going for spaces and runs and everything. And yeah, luckily you know, all four tires were straight, my toe was knocked out, but it still was pretty fast and you know, able to finish fourth there.”
Building Momentum in the 2026 NASCAR Season
The 2026 season has started on a promising note for Carson Hocevar, who followed a strong runner-up finish in the Truck Series with a noteworthy fourth-place result in the Cup Series race at Atlanta. This positive momentum positions him well as he prepares for the upcoming event at the Circuit of the Americas in Texas. Hocevar has yet to crack the top 10 at this venue, making the next race a key opportunity for further success.
As Hocevar continues to strive for improved results, his ability to rebound after the Atlanta setbacks demonstrates his competitiveness and determination. Meanwhile, drivers like Tyler Reddick and Joey Logano seek to extend their success, keeping the championship battle intensely competitive as the season advances.
