At just 23 years old, NASCAR Cup Series driver Carson Hocevar is preparing to challenge the field once again, now backed by a significant contract extension with Spire Motorsports. Signed to drive the No. 77 Chevrolet, this new agreement ensures Hocevar will remain with the team into the next decade, reflecting the organization’s strong faith in his potential to achieve top honors in the NASCAR Cup Series.
The extension not only secures his future but also fuels Hocevar’s belief that a championship is attainable with the right support and resources.
Hocevar Confident About Winning a NASCAR Cup Series Title
Speaking at Media Day ahead of Daytona Speedweek at Daytona International Speedway, Hocevar expressed his determination to claim a championship despite not having won in 81 starts. The Portage, Michigan native emphasized that both he and the ownership team are aligned on the goal of building a title-contending program over the coming years.
“Yeah I think we can do it, I don’t think it’s hyperbole to say that,”
Hocevar declared.
I think we realistically, over the next 10 years, we can build this into a championship threat. I think we can get our cars there and I think I can get there.
He attributed part of his confidence to the strong leadership of Spire Motorsports owner Jeff Dickerson and the experienced management team, who have collectively achieved numerous championships and victories in the sport.

“So, I’m excited and the talented people just keep coming in through the door and not leaving, so they are just going to get us faster.”
Long-Term Contract Reflects Mutual Commitment
The fresh contract agreement extends Hocevar’s deal by an additional five years, solidifying his place within Spire Motorsports. Negotiations between Hocevar and Jeff Dickerson reportedly progressed smoothly, with both parties expressing enthusiasm to continue their partnership rather than entertain outside offers.
“I don’t know who was more excited, me or Jeff or all my guys,”
Hocevar remarked.
I didn’t feel like fielding any calls and I felt like declining all of them and I think Jeff and I just looked at each other and said ‘I don’t really feel like leaving anytime soon.’ And he said, ‘Well, I don’t want you leaving anytime soon either.’
“So we just started adding years and more years. So, it’s joyful for that. It’s good on their marketing side, as well, because I think we have a car full for the next how many years, which is great. It just helps on all things, if we’re all locked in and bought in, let’s just be official about it.”
For the upcoming Daytona 500, Hocevar’s No. 77 Chevrolet will display sponsorship from Spectrum.
Strong Performance History Highlights Hocevar’s Winning Potential
Though Hocevar has yet to secure his first NASCAR Cup Series victory, his career statistics reveal a driver on the rise. Over the last two seasons, he has recorded three top-five finishes and fifteen top-10s, leading a total of 138 laps. Previously, Hocevar found success in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series with five wins and numerous top finishes across three full-time seasons.
This weekend, Hocevar returns to the Truck Series behind the wheel of Spire’s No. 77 Chevrolet Silverado for an event at Daytona.
One notable rival in the race is three-time NASCAR Cup Series champion and Hall of Famer Tony Stewart, making his first NASCAR appearance in a decade and his Truck Series debut at Daytona.
“I haven’t met him yet, but he seems excited, which is cool,”
Hocevar commented about Stewart.
I don’t know that any of us had on the bingo card that Tony Stewart would be excited to run a Truck race, and a Truck race at a superspeedway.”
The race is scheduled for Friday, February 13, at 7:30 p.m. and will be broadcast on FS1-TV, MRN Radio, and Sirius XM NASCAR Radio.
